So Hey..
We're almost in May, which is interesting because I think I'm still in January. Hopefully I'll catch up sooner than later. I really have nothing fascinating to share, which means I really need to go out and do something intensely zany. Any suggestions?
Let's make that a POLL QUESTION: What zany thing should I do (answers could include but not limited to: sky diving, bungee jumping, ear piercing, head shaving, dog food eating, whirlwind two-week trip across the country)? I have my own ideas, but eagerly await your responses, and challenge you to do something zany yourself [within God's boundaries ;)]. Hehehe.
BITS (a.k.a. - 'The Geek Sheet')
My bro broke the news first in my group of friends, but yes.. it's true. Katie Holmes is taken. That's just such a surreal match-up if you ask me.. Tom Cruise.. wow..
Politics:
*Yawn*
Movies:
Mr. & Mrs. Smith - I'm excited about this one. Angelina Jolie might have a chance to redeem herself from a slew.. yeah, a SLEW of bad movies.
This should be a KILLER role for Jack Black. Muy Bueno!
The Entertainment Weekly Movie Preview is out... There are definitely some intriguing flicks coming up. Batman is a gimmee, Kingdom of Heaven looks promising, definitely Charlie & The Chocolate factory, and I won't pass up the Terry Gilliam directed "The Brothers Grimm". There are others, but those look like my early favorites. Don't underestimate the Dreamworks animated "Madagascar".
TV:
JAG defied the odds and lasted HOW many seasons? It all ends tonight. Nice job.
Music:
Add Billy Corgan's solo album (June 21) and the Foo Fighter's new one to the list of my eagerly anticipated musical releases. Who knows what you're going to get with Corgan - without listening to it I could see this as having the potential being the one of the biggest busts of the year - but I'm definitely giving him the benefit of the doubt.
I'm still waiting for an artist/band from a Christian Worldview to throw out some originality this year. Not that there hasn't been any creativity, there just seems to be such a mimic of the mainstream. The Afters are intriguing, as is Mae, and House of Heroes. The idea is to challenge the world's normal way of thinking, to question the worldviews of the typical Billboard Top 20 and engage in a intelligent, Grace-filled debate with those who don't see things from a Christian perspecitve.
Sports:
Interesting NFL Draft. No MAJOR surprises, though the Lions did make one of the more intriguing moves of the first-round. My initial reaction was very negative - you hate to use so much long term cap room on three recievers - but it's gutsy and will present a lot of matchup issues for the Lions opponents.
The Tigers are showing some signs of life, but be prepared to ride the coaster all season. Stability should come in the following seasons, provided the Tigers can continue to develop their farm system.
Food:
The Cheesburger Sausage Dog thingy @ 7-11. It's a cheesburger.. no, no.. it's a hot dog.. wait.. it's both! Wow.. we've really progressed as a society. It was actually pretty decent, but eating more than 1 a month could prove fatal.
Oddities:
If the Lord allows me to be 90,
this is how I'd want to be..
In the world.. not of it ;)
...or are we?
