My last week of vacation is quickly coming to an end. I’m excited that, for the first time in four years, I don’t know what to expect of the school year. I’m also excited that (again, for the first time in four years) I’m going to be in the same city as my boyfriend for an extended period of time.
I’ve accomplished quite a bit since I returned from Florida. Both of my rooms have been transformed from “occasional place of sleep” to “study/hermit-ready.” I finished working and deposited my last positive income (that I won’t have to pay back to the bank, anyway). I’ve met up with Albionions prior to their departure to bigger and better places (aka, anywhere with a job, aka not Michigan). I’ve been to Katie’s baby shower and wedding #3 at Kevin’s cabin. All-in-all, a delightful July.
I’m reading Guns, Germs, and Steel, which is a really fascinating book (if you’re the kind of person who occasionally watches interesting specials on the History channel) about the history of the world and why certain civilizations conquered others. Yeah, so maybe it sounds boring, but it’s sweet.
Tomorrow I will be attending a professional polo match for charity, which will be balmy and British-like.
I’m stoked for orientation next week. I get to learn about diversity and bloodborne pathogens, I get my lab coat, and I’ll be reunited with my fellow Scott-hall-bound friends, Steph and Courtney. Oooh boy ☺
