*sigh* I feel as if there is nothing of extreme importance to report. Life goes on much as it has (scarcely aware of the existence of Hobbits).  sleep, school, homework, TV, sleep, etc... how dull. yet there are millions of tiny things coming up here and there that may have some significance to me and not much to anyone else, and are therefore not worth mentioning.

So even though there is an apparent lack of news, I felt like typing something. So if you are willing to read the exciting events of my week in Shasta that resulted in me taking a month vacation from Livejournal then you can go ahead and

It all started when we flew out. of course. It took seven grueling hours of travel, to make it there somewhere around midnight. When we arrived at the airport, My Aunt Kris and step-cousin Abram were waiting to take us to the house. We packed everything up into their SUV (I know, great time to have one and all) and drove to their home in Reno, NV.

When we got to the house, there was some apprehension. You see, we take this vacation every summer with the family and friends, and even then it takes a bit of time to get used to being around each other (we don't see each other all year). But the previous summer, the family decided not to make the trip and do something else instead. They went to Hawaii i think and we went to Martha's Vineyard. But that is another story all together. So anyways, it had been 2 years since seeing each other instead of the usual 1. We cautiously carried our bags inside, unsure of what to do and what to say when we saw them. There was Uncle Mark, who of course we walked right up to and hugged hello. There's never an awkward moment with him. Then came Zac.

Zac is a friend of Abram's. His best-friend to be precise. It seems impossible to tell al l this history in one sitting, but I shall attempt to summarize. On the first houseboat trip, our introduction to Zac was the water squirting for his squirt-gun. Since then he has had some semblance of feelings for me, and I'm guessing my sister devon as well. He would follow around, but not at the same time. He would really only talk to us when Abram with him. He was scared of us apparently. None the less, our feeling toward him always seemed to be "Oh, he's Zac." You know, the guy who's nice but you wouldn't really think of like that. Well, everything I described to you changed this year, and changed drastically.

When it came to say hello to Zac, one thing became abundantly clear to me: this was not 'just Zac' anymore. The shorter, chubbier boy had grown tall and thin, standing a good 10 inches higher than my 5'3". And damn, he looked good in that brown sweatshirt thing he was wearing. And I know Devon agreed with me; she liked the sweatshirt so much she decided she would steal it from him till Christmas. So we all approached and hesitantly hugged, murmuring hello. We said hello to Ben, Abram's brother, as well.

Seeing as how it was midnight we all decided to stay up. Sleeping is a bad idea for jetlag, so the idea is to stay up for as long as you can manage before falling into bed. which is exactly what I did after I realized I was dozing off and missing 10 second increments of Die Hard.

The next morning, when I woke up I went out to the kitchen to see who was awake. It was Uncle Mark, Dad, Ben, his girlfriend Rachel (who i was promptly introduced to), Devon, Taylor, and I. I think anyways. The whole week tends to be smudged together as one giant memory. Then I ate a muffin. that part I remember perfectly because it was a chocolate chip chocolate muffin wrapped in cellophane that was particularly difficult to take off the muffin. C'était trés bon. Eventually Aunt Kris woke up. She's not what you would call a morning person. From there we just sort of hung out for a while. When the boys woke up we sat around for a bit before getting dressed and deciding to go out to Ben's apartment to grab some stuff for the trip. We headed out there, doing the usual teen stuff, bopping to music the whole way. When we got there we went in and got the 'grand tour' which consisted of the livingroom, kitchen, and bedroom. Ben started to get his things together and we sorta poked around his house, looking at his movie and colletion of weapons. We played around a bit with his nunchucks and sais before proceeding to have a mini pillow fight on his couch. Then we listened to an incredibly crude, yet funny song by Tenacious D called F*** Her Gently.

On the way out from Ben's apartment we made a sidestop to a tiny store so I could pick out a postcard to send to Danielle. After buying that we were hungry and went for some Wendy's (this is all very high drama, no?) After returning home (the parents and taylor had gone out to grocery shop for the trip), we went out back into the sunshine to play some boardgames. Ben and Zac played Sequence, while Devon and I played UpWords, and Josh read a book. After Ben and Zac finished their game they went inside and Dev and I had a nice long chat with Josh about various things...the main subject was books. Then the shopper's returned and we went to unload the hundreds of pounds of food. Once the food was unloaded, Taylor decided that she wanted to watch Kill Bill: Volume 1. Devon said she’d watch it with her, but I sorta didn’t want to watch it. So Zac and I decided we wanted to watch Red vs. Blue season 1. Now, if you haven’t seen this show I highly suggest that you go out and buy the DVD and watch it. So anyways, we went into Abram’s room and laid down on the floor to watch the show. We ended up half paying attention to the show and half talking. Then Taylor, Dev, and Abram came in. We all sat around talking and watching the show for a while before David showed up. He is also a friend of Abram and Zac’s and came with us on the trip.

Introductions were made and and it was a tiny bit awkward for a bit. David is a really shy guy and we didn’t really know how to act around each other. Anyways, fun stuff happened. Zac fell asleep and Devon gave Abram one of his shoes to throw at Zac, who didn’t even wake up when it hit him. Then he woke up, moved, and the shoe came toppling down to hit me in the head. It was all very interesting. Around…7 (?) we went out into the livingroom and watched Who’s Line Is It Anyways. Pizza was ordered, and we watched the end of LOTR: ROTK because it was on TV. This was when we discovered Zac’s hidden talent. He can perfectly imitate Gollum/Smeagol’s voice. It is the funniest thing ever!

So I don’t really remember what happened after that, but eventually we went to sleep. The next morning we all woke up and ate breakfast before packing for the 4 hour trip to Lake Shasta. The cars were packed and off we headed: Dad, Devon, Taylor and I in the Lexus, Aunt Kris, Uncle Mark, Abram, David and Zac in the SUV, Ben and Rachel in his truck, and Rachel’s parents in their car. Not too long after we had started driving we made a stop at a gas station and got some snacks for the ride, as well as some gas. We once again started driving, and Taylor and I started drawing. We had a hilarious time using crayons to make pictures, Taylor’s being of a lady named Franchesca. About a half an hour into the trip we stopped again, this time for food. We went into Subway with Aunt Kris, Uncle Mark, and Zac. Zac told us how boring his car ride was because Abram slept and David played a video game. After ordering our sandwiches, us girls decided to invite Zac over to our car so that he wouldn’t be so bored. At this point in time, I could tell I was definitely crushing on Zac, but of course did not say anything…he has a girlfriend.

We left from the parking lot and headed on our way, this time with a slightly more cramped car. The fun started right away, with Taylor showing off her Franchesca drawing. From there we spent the hours in the car playing word games and just laughing. We stopped at a rest area and stretched a bit, getting out of the car, but still playing that word game we were playing. Then on the way out Taylor tried to show off Franchesca to the drivers-by, but in vain.

After about another hourish, we started to drive by places we recognized as being close to the lake. Of course we started to get really excited and I think we started talking about what had happened on past trips and yadda yadda yadda. When we finally got to the resort, we found out that this year employees would unload all of our luggage and food for us and take it to the boat. This was really exciting because every year we had to carry it all. So we all got out of the car and walked around. We were going to stay up in the parking lot, but Devon and Zac started to walk down to check out the boats. This was the moment in time when I knew without a doubt that Devon liked Zac. I don’t know why it was that specific moment, but it was.

After a moment Taylor and I followed them down and we all went over to the recreation area where David and Abram already had a pool game started. We went and checked out the store and just hung around waiting to be let onto our boat. When we finally got onto out boat the first thing that we did was look around the entire boat and scope it out a bit. Then the people who were lugging our stuff in little go-carts came over and we all helped unload everything to its proper place - food to the kitchen and luggage to rooms.

Soon after, a friendly employee of the resort came onto the boat and gave Uncle Mark and Aunt Kris the mandatory tutorial. He helped us back the boat out of the resort and then jumped onto a little motorboat an employee had driven out to meet him. And then we were off on out week’s adventure in the California sun. There would be fun, laughter, and games, but also betrayal, romance, and drama - all loaded into one weeks time. All in all, Shasta ’05 would be a year none of us would forget.

So that's the first installment on the incredibly long tale of  Shasta '05. If you actually read that entire thing and you want me to post the next (and def more exciting) entry, let me know by posting a comment. If I find there's no interest in the rest of the story I guess I won't post another. Anways, Alias is about to premiere and I must watch.

Oh yea, and today I started to think about Rexis as I was looking at all the icons I have of them, and almost started crying. I miss them. how pathetic.
