what a wild weekend!
So Saturday was crazy! I got to Cabot early enough, and I knew NOBODY there! It was all these Trauma Concept people that came from Eastern Mass!
So hung out with Allie and Ambre and all the other people who showed up. Aequilibria was awesome, they played a 25-40 minute set and it ended up being only 3 songs long! But holy shit, if you were drunk like me and into the really fucked up crap like I was, you woulda gone for it in an instant!
I missed most of Trauma Concept, which I was stupid about seems I really really wanted to see Trey sing. I watched a couple of his songs and then got distracted. Missed most of Obsidian Halo too but I did catch some kickass tunes from Krista.
Um um...did jello shots with Allie, Ambre and I tagged cars outside, TJ drew dicks on our hands...I think I insulted Eric this time instead of insulting Evan (OK, IT IS HARD TO TELL APART TWINS WHEN THEY ALTERNATE WHAT COLOR BANDANAS THEY WEAR!!!). Met Mike...gave him a huge hug and surprised him b/c he thought the Soundboard people didn't like him! Farewell Radiance was just AMAZING! Adam the singer thought I was the loudest one there so he told the crowd to shut up and had me do 'solo' applause for the fuck of it. LOL.
UFS was terrific too! I think I started losing my voice during their set but there was so many people there!!!
Afterwards I was way too drunk to go home, thank god Mel took my keys and drove me to Ray's house for the afterparty. There was maybe...8 other people there I guess...Jay and Kitten and Rusty n Russ n Ray n Chris n Brendan...n Jay...n his wife...who else? dunno. Ended up finishing off a bottle of Jack with Rusty, Brendan and Jay. I was about ready to keel over but Russ thank god went and got me some water.
So I left around 5;30 or so...followed Kitten and Jay back to the highway, got home passed out and slept til 6 or so. Didn't go out Sunday
Last night I had Chris and Tim from Bad Magick come into my station and played some tunes. Those guys are so much fun to hang with. Afterwards they invited me to go out for a drink with them, so we went to Elizur's. Soon as we get our drinks some other dude tries standing up and falls flat on his face drunk. This guy was our entertainment for the next hour and a half as he got up and fell over multiple times. I only had one drink that the guys bought, but the bartender ended up doing some type of shot thingie w/ Stoli in it...I dunno, he gave us two cup fulls with two straws...he chugged with Chris and I w/ Tim. LOL, I could handle it but those two guys are more into beer rather than vodka!
Article for Wasted Again is DONE! If anyone wants a copy of this magazine, I'm not sure when it'll be published, but it's promotional so I don't doubt it will be free. Please let me know if you would like a copy sent to you. What will happen is that it's going to be a quarterly magazine - 4 or so a year, and I'll be writing a column on local musicians each time. Seems this is the first issue I was asked to write first on Doubting Tom...which was difficult due to them recording and all...but expect more in the future...
Remember: Wasted Again!
AND! I got asked to help out in the Grand Band Slam this year on Sept 22nd on Worthington St! Someone from the Advocate asked me to go out with him for coffee next week and if I could announce some bands that will be playing that night. I don't know any winners yet and if there's a kickass lineup at the Fat Cat I would LOVE to rawk that place out! Honestly, I only voted twice this year, I really didn't feel the need to go all out like I did last year, and a lot of people who played weren't all necessarily winners either...but oh well. I'm psyched about it though!
