back on the bandwagon...

I got offered a job by Maxxtone to make a movie for them. Errr..DVD for their press kit. They loved that final project I did on them and they wanted me to work on it, and even pay for any lab work/session work I may need to rent out, etc! Its cool and all, I would love to do this for them, but I only wish I had my computer so that I can work with iMovie and a DVD Burner...and I do not want to take about my computer in the process (I saw the drives for sale at Walmart, which didn't sound bad but still). Anyway, that was Thursday at Breakers. Before I went down to West Side that night, I had gone to Pearl St to see Split Shift and Adam's Rib open for the Exies. Ran into Tanner and co. Peloquin was there too. Got a shout out from Keith b/c I was up in the front row singing along to all the songs...but then I got a swift kick in the shoulder from him because I wasn't paying attention (due to some lemming-Exies loser who wanted to know more about this local!, so I was promoting his band while he gave me credit, haha!).
Put it this way, got BUZZED at Pearl St = 3 drinks made by Jay the Bartender. Then I went down to Breakers, and get Teee-RASHED! 3 more drinks. Then I got onstage with Aarron, forgot all the cues and lyrics, and got a laughing insult from the big brother saying "You are retarded"...dude, what a fuckup move that night! Also, Josh followed me the entire night.

Friday night...went to Pearl ST for the Battle of the Bands. Judged it. Soon as I walk in, Ian could tell off the bat what the fuck I was doing and was trying to sway my decision. I kept picking on him the rest of the night over it.
Ok, the thing is, NIM did end up winning that Battle...and its not because I am friends with them. Out of the 6 bands I did see, they DID the most onstage, they prepared, moved around, interacted with the audience...more than the kiddie bands that were there! I admit, I did like Mulch though, and they were brand new, but they didn't DO anything onstage and the verse lyrics were a little fast. Also liked Dark Memory a lot, but they couldn't get the audience to DO anything. So that's why I was a little irritated with Ian by the end of the night because I was thinking that he thought I picked NIM to win because I am friends with them, and I didn't, and I won't even tell him what their score was. I hate being the only judge at these shows.

Saturday - Saw John Fogerty. Ran into Sketcy Cam. Drank. Left Pines Theater. Went to Cabot. no one there. Sifted thru Advocate, decided to go to Fat Cats for Keith & Josh...10:30pm and they hadn't even started yet. Stuck around til after they played Plush and left (did meet this kinda cute guy but I know he's not the type when I talk to him for oh so long and we're already musically clashing - "no, I don't like Outfall's music"). Went to...Maximum Capacity. Wasted $5 on the cover, another buck on a dollar test tube shot....and the place was fucking empty. Orange Crush was playing, and big brother told me to see what I thought of them sometime. So I watched for about an hour, had a few drinks. was drunk. They took a break, had another drink, found Tommy K and talked to him a bit bout Doubting Tom and them recording new stuff in Hartford and possibly about me coming down to chill...he was also at Pearl St on Thursday and somehow he knew about it (hmm, must have been Keith's shoutout).
Decided to leave b/c I didn't know anyone else there.
Went back to Cabot - FOUND PEOPLE!!!!
Talked to a bunch of people for awhile, til about 2am and then went home...I was soooo bored all night...what a fuckin tour de nightclubs for a Saturday night.

Oh yea, and then when I got up on Sunday, Stoops called me...just to chat. Weird, but he was cool to talk to. Got to hear all kinds of stuff about that U2 show he worked at and stuff...I can't wait to see him Friday at Cabot! LABB returns to Western Mass! I helped them get this gig, I hope there's plenty of people that come out!
