Yay for saturday but bushed
so i guess lifes mini update:
The catering gig was awesome. Tiring but awesome. I woke up at 5:30, caught my ride at 7 and was at work by 8am. From there i worked til bout 4:45pm and it was fun but i was exhausted (yet very very happy) It was a wedding reception and i got to do everything from preping food, garnishing plates, stocking (and restocking) the buffet, serving food, plating food, to clearing plates, washing dishes, and mopping the floor. It was a great experience tho interesting. There were times when i would ask things and my employer would snap at me (didn't bother me cuz i knew he was stressed out) and then on down time he would come and talk with me about the industry. Which in the end was awesome cuz i'm learning a lot both about the industry and cooking in general. I learned a lot about people's work ethic as well. I noticed that i would be like "ok i'm done what else can i do?" and talk to the employer and the others would be like "ok i'm done" and just stand around and do nothing. Sheesh. I think one of the interesting things was that even tho we had enough people to run the event, there wasn't that team work that would have made things easier. Like i was going to change a dish out on the buffet with a new one and the other server just stood there! sheesh a little help people! he later got chewed out by my boss for not helping and on the guests ended up helping me. The attitudes of someone who wants to be there and work as opposed to some one just being there for the money creates an interesting environment when trying to run a function. After the event i came home and crashed (watched a movie with mom). so that is the update in my life....two days to go woot! and its gonna be a crazy week. i shall post schedule later ;)
