Yeah, I know this is long over due ok so I got my computer back last saturday yay! (a week ago sat) hehe and so it is nice to have connection back but at the same time it was kind of fun not having it because i had time to do so many other things...like catch up on reading haha.
So I finally got a feel of what my true semester schedule will be like this semester as of last week which in a way is reassuring but at the same time freaky! hehe
Monday: Work at 6:50 AM (which means a wake up call about 5:45 AM monday mornings) then I get off of work at 10:05 AM. I get enough time to hit open pool sessions for about 30-45 minutes and then lunch. After lunch I have work for purchasing from 1:15 pm until whenever we finish prep (last monday we finished at 7:30 pm)
Tuesdays: Classes start at 9:10 am and go until 5pm straight with no break (management information systems, lodging systems, managerial accounting, cultural anthropology, and then back for management information systems lab)
Wednesdays: Sleep in yay! hehe cuz all I have is work at noon until 2.
Thursdays: classes from 9:10-3pm and then dancing
Friday: work at 10-11, swim from 12-1, work from 2-3:30.
Rinse, Wring, Repeat....
so that was pretty much my week. On top of that there is the hw and non clock hours for purchasing that gets done (re-doing the master shopping lists). I figure if I get one weekend where I have fun a month I'll survive This month's adventure was to St. Gertrude's Monastery in Cottonwood, ID which was very interesting. We had a lot of fun hiking the 990 acre property (880 of which is forested) and then did a service project for the sisters (washed all 7 of their cars) , took a tour of the buildings, and got to see a different way of life which was cool. We got a crash course in Benedictine history as well as got have 2 lunches and dinner with the sisters which was really neat to get to talk with them. We also went to Chapel and Eucharist which was very different for me. As a group we also had our own times of worship which was great and got to really bond as a group.
It was fascinating for me to go to mass and chapel and do the things with the sisters because on one hand there is the the fact that the monastery is in a sense a total institution, where the sisters give up their old ways of life to follow the teachings of Benedict and Scholastica which was a little freaky but at the same time the Benedictine tradition is deeply rooted in the Catholic Church. Also the services felt more ritualistic than worship which seemed colder to me but at the same time, the sister's individual relationship with Christ was present which, although seemed very different to me, was their way of life and in every way as valid as the things I am used when going to church and my relationship with Christ. So looking at it that way, neither way is better than each other (cuz then we get the problem of ethnocentrism) but they both had their grounds and validity which I thought was pretty cool. And I can now say I have been to Mass which was very very different for me. So that about catches everyone up with me.
