Bert and I went to Brussels today (you know, the capital of Belgium) because on the national holiday (which is today) they do all sorts of celebratory things.
What Bert really wanted to do was go to the open house at the Parliament (Chamber and Senate).
So off we went (and the train was on time both ways, it always seems to run smoothly on bank holidays).
We wandered around Brussels first, saw Manneken Pis and way too many chocolate shops.
Then we had lunch at Subway and wandered towards the Parliament.
On the way there we saw a whole bunch of Belgian army vehicles on display, the army is always very showy on the national holiday :)
And then we went to the open house. We played two contests they were holding and got some free tat (Bert got a graphic novel and a parliament pin, I got a pocket mirror and the same pin [they let you choose between several things]).
After that we visited the
Cathedral of St-Michael and St-Gudula and then we went back home :)
I did take a bunch of photos, but I'm saving my flickr upload space for photos from my Disneyland Paris trip later this week so I'll upload them all next week :)
sea_cucumber I took loads of photos in the cathedral and I got you something small there, it's very awesome :)
I did upload the outfit shot Bert took of me in front of the fighter plane. Don't ask me what kind of plane it is, I have no clue what so ever :)
Top: my own design, made it myself
Skirt: made it myself
Flip flops: Puma
Bag: Eastpak
Small bag with the bow: Claire's Accessories
Umbrella: Lisbeth Dahl
Location: Paleizenplein, Brussels, they had all these military vehicles, including this fighter plane out on display for the Belgian National holiday (July 21st) :) They do that every year :)
And see, even google.be is celebrating the national holiday :)
