Official text on Purple dragons: "Purple dragons, however, are one of the only breeds of only female dragons. They eat only plants, and meat during mating season when it is brought to them by their mate. Their bright colors make them easy to spot during dragon mating season, which occurs once every 10 to 20 years and can last up to 2 years." ~ From Dragon Cave
