TRON: Legacy
Saw this a few days ago, WOW.
New fandom time =D
I wasn't interested at all in the movie after watching some trailers, since past all the shiny visuals it looked really formulaic and boring. But once I actually got dragged into the theater... omfgggg.
SPOILERS AHEAD
The entire movie was an endless visual feast! The only weak points I felt was that the movie got a bit slow at the midpoint, where Sam is seeking out Zuse. The entire Castor/Zuse/club sideplot seemed overdone and I wasn't amused the least by Zuse' antics, though I did love the music.
Happy stuff:
- The blue/orange visual contrast was fantastic. I know it's kinda like "Orange? Ok, its an enemy!" But I thought it was really eye-catching that way.
- Rez sequences, like times Clu rezzes a light cycle and a light jet in slo-mo.... HOLY FUCK *0*
- The music. I didn't really like Daft Punk that much, but this soundtrack was sakfjslakfdlaskfj listening to it on repeat right now.
- The outfits were so awesomeeeee and glowwyyyyyy
- The backstory actually felt pretty solid, and there was real emotion in the father-son relationship.
- Kevin, Tron, and Clu's backstory was genuinely interesting.
- Clu made a pretty compelling villain in the fact that he was pretty much created for the task, and is now vilified as a result. That scene where he's in Kevin's abandoned apartment and flashes back to his creation... poor guy.
- Quorra is flat-out adorable. So naive!
- The humorous parts were actually humorous lololol. "FLYNN! Am I still to create the perfect system?" "..Yeah?" oh, kevin. And when sam does that little shrug thing before stupidly running the laser execution program, ahahaha.
Unhappy stuff:
- Quite a few confusing things that weren't cleared up- why do programs go to nightclubs and make out? Why are some programs wearing white suits? Why is Gem off work?
- The ending. Clu throws away his last chance at redemption, Sam loses his dad, and the Grid implodes... bawwwwww
I need to watch it again.
I also need to get my mitts on some EL tape eheheheeheh.
I have all these half-formed plots swimming around in my head, but I can't write anything compelling and don't want to ruin the concepts by writing them down terribly D: I can write, but...it's just so mediocre. I think it would be interesting if Clu successfully fooled Sam into thinking he was Sam's dad, or if he did take the hug at the end. :< bleeergh kadfjslafkjdkf need to consume more fic but there is like no fandom yet.
