This is what it's like living in Pennsylvania during the holidays...
"Aren't Hannakah and Kwanza are the same thing?"
"They're both Jewish holidays."
...
"Did you know that at thirteen Jews have a really big party, a barmitzva, and that's when they, you know, (whispers) get cut."
"And they have to learn Hebrew!"
"It's so crazy!"
...
"Jesus was a Christian."
...
"But what's the difference between what Christians believe and what Catholics believe?"
"Do Catholics pray to Mary or to Jesus?"
...
"What is a barmitzva for?"
"It's about becoming a man."
"Doesn't that encourage them to have sex?"
...
Special non holiday bonus:
"What about the same sex who live together?"
"You mean gay people?"
"They make me so uncomfortable."
*I am making fun of these statements, they aren't actually correct.
*I really heard these things, most were said directly to me, by adults.
*I did correct some of them.
*I did purposely annoy one group by asking, "Did you know that Dec 25 is not the actual day Jesus was born?" and "Did you know that Jesus was Jewish?"
