[The terminal comes on to the sound of finger tapping, almost thoughtfully, before Edward clears his throat and speaks.]
Wrath. I found some red stones here, I didn't think there'd be any... A year and a half without seeing even one, but this place has lots of things from other worlds, doesn't it? So why not Stone fragments? I should have thought of it sooner... I should have- .... I know.
I'll bring them to you, tonight.
[A small distance away, a door is heard opening with a low creak, and Ed's voice fades a bit as if he's turned away from the terminal.]
Al... Where were you?
[Al sounds slightly confused.]
I was upstairs, sorting the books, Brother. Don't you remember? I told you I was going to do that about a half hour ago.
Do you need me for something?
[Ed doesn't respond at first, and in the silence it's almost hard to determine if the terminal is even still on.]
Of course you were. Yeah, I ....
[There's a click, as something unidentifiable comes together, muffled as if covered by a cloth. When Ed speaks again, his voice is quieter, almost apologetic.]
Al. I'm going to make everything right, again. I couldn't help Nina when she was here, but I am... I'm going to help you, and I'm going to help Wrath. And we can stay here... It's not so bad here, after a year- I can't complain. You'll stay here with me, right?
[Al's voice moves a little closer to the terminal as he approaches Ed.]
Nina was here? ... Edward...
[There's the soft rustling of fabric as he puts his hand on Ed's shoulder.]
Of course I'll stay with you. And I'll help Wrath, too. He's Teacher's son... in a way. We... owe it to him. And to her.
[Ed actually chuckles at that, the smile still evident in his voice when he speaks again.]
In a way.
She was, and- I couldn't always protect her. Then she left again, her and Alexander both... They brought her here after she died, Al. She didn't get to go home like everyone else does... and neither will Wrath.
We'll stay, and we'll make everything right.
[His voice drops, as if he didn't just announce what he's about to say over the network for everyone to hear, but that it's a big secret.]
I found some stones here, I'm sure they weren't here before. I'm sure of it, but they are now.
[A repeat of the earlier 'click' as Ed presents the 'stones' for Al to see.]
We might be able to make Wrath human, too. But, I have to fix everything else first... There's still so much left to fix.
[Al's voice wavers a bit.]
... I'm sorry, Brother. She'll... maybe she exists on the other side, where we were. Before I came here.
[There's a pause as Al looks at the 'stones'.]
Where did you find those? How can those be here?...
Edward... we'll fix things. But we have to be careful. We're not entirely sure how alchemy works here, right? It seems to take more energy and material to do transmutations...
[Ed laughs at his brother's confusion.]
How can anything be here, Al? How can we be here? Things just... come here from other worlds. It's not uncommon, so why would it be surprising that something might come from our's?
I'm going to fix everything, Al. I'm going to fix... I should save some of these, I told Wrath I had them but I could use just one to make this right, again. Not like mom, not like Nina, I can actually help you, Al.
This might hurt... Don't be scared.
[Silence again, followed by the distinct sound of someone clapping their hands together, just once.]
I promised...
[The last part is whispered right before the sound of an alchemic transmutation, a sort of electric static, fills the room as Ed presses his hands to his brother's chest.]
... Edward? What are you talking about?
[There's the sound of shuffling feet, and then a bump.]
Edward? Brother!
[There's a shout, and then a long, terrified cry of pain, which is suddenly cut off.]
[There's the sound of something wet splashing, and a great deal of it. After a few seconds, there's nothing more than the dripping.]
[And then a horrified scream, which dissolves into sobs.]
