Sunday I took the train up and met with Matt in NYC, to attend japan Day 2008 and see the Takeshi Murakami exhibit.
Matt found out about the festival randomly through stalker feed on Facebook,
so we went tempted by the promise of free food and entertainment.
And they did not disappoint!
This udon was really good. I never had udon cold/room temperature, but this was excellent! I wish I could have gotten the sauce, because that and the lemon made it so refreshing.
Matt not smiling!!!
Matt smiling!!!
For the life of my I can't remember what these guys were doing.
There were a bunch of people, but it wasn't over crowded. A good attendance, and they planned the whole thing very well. There was plenty of food, and they gave away so much green tea!!! I had so many cans. It was heavenlyyyyyy.
Warg! I make the same face as my Dad in every picture I take.
I am a master of looking bad!
FOOOOOD LINESSSS
They were long but moved along very quickly.
Oh those Asians, so efficient.
CREEPY JAPANESE ANDROID.
She freaked me and Matt out a bit.
She wasn't plugged into anything, but you asked her questions and she answered them O_o
And made hand and arm gestures to match.
The neck movements were a bit jerky, but the rest was eerily convincing ._.;
Ok, I took a lot of pictures of the all girl taiko group.
They were awesome and cool and I also love playing with my camera.
See? They were neato weren't they?
If my videos weren't acting up, i'd post them too.
After that, it was off to the Brooklyn Museum for Murakami!
The exhibit was awesome, though we could not take pictures.
we could however get pictures of the installation out in the lobby, so I did!
It was fun watching how uptight people are once they got to the area with these giant statues:

Rofl.
The exhibit was HUGE, spanning 2 floors. The pieces were giant and colorful and cracked out, just the way I like things.
There was also a series of videos that played, including his collaborations with Kanye West,
and other things set to release later this year.
There were lots of cute things in the giftshop,
but they were ungodly expensive because all of his merch is super limited edition
and not made in China by slave labor.
I ended up with a flower pin and a book on Japanese icons because the exhibit book was $65.00.
All in all, it was a great day!
