Wedding report! :D

I doubt I’d be able to get away with not posting anything about the wedding here. So here goes:

Last Saturday, Michael and I were married. In Vor Frelser Kirke in Horsens. Now, this might not sound so spectacular, but it is, when you take into consideration that there was a medieval fair going on. One of the bigger ones, actually, with 100.000 to 200.000 visitors over the weekend. They guessed that our wedding was seen by about 2-30.000 people. Which seemed totally unrealistic, but I guess I only really saw the two front rows of people staring at us.

A lot of people took pictures, which is kinda funny, because apart from those Tigie took with our cam, and Monica’s, we haven’t seen any. :D Then again, we don’t read the papers that brought interviews, reports from the site, or even heard the radio-broadcast. We only agreed to run along with the press because the other couple (usually two couples are married at this fair) canceled, was replaced with some other guys, who also canceled! They figured that not enough seriously interested people know that this is an actual possibility, so they asked if they could bring pictures of the parade, and make a press-statement in advance to draw some attention to it before the show was on.

I figured, yeah, sure fine! No prob. Not like anything else but the local newspaper would be interested. Turned out I was wrong though. And now our own local newspaper (Ikast avis) read the regional newpaper (Herning folkeblad) where there’s a big interview, and NOW they want US to send them pictures!? Oh come on! You weren’t interested before, and it’s not our problem you didn’t send your own bloody photographers. Oh well, never bloody mind.

Righto. Apart from the press being a bunch of idiotic piss-ants, it was really a blast.

We went to fair Friday, like nothing was out of the ordinary. We were dressed in the costumes we usually wear, and danced with Schelmish (somebody conveniently managed to catch that on a camera http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nA9bpMlNvoU ). We told them it was their “fault” we were getting married, seeing how we met for the first time 4 years ago at their concert.

Saturday morning started quite early. Michael woke at 5 and I at 6, and then there was no more sleeping. We got clothed in our wedding dress around 10 and went to my parents. My mother did my hair, and we were all ready and quite pretty at 14, when the huge taxi arrived.
We rode the taxi with my parents, and a family that’s friends of the family, the Grotkjærs. They’re really lovable people, and were dressed totally fashionable, anno 1400! Wonderful! :D

We apparently looked important enough for people to step aside even before the parade, so getting to the parade’s startingpoint was quite easy. Almost everybody was wearing costumes, and the atmosphere was great. Going through the city in the big parade was amazing beyond words, but what really struck me was when we entered the church, each with a candle in hand, walking shoulder to shoulder up the floor, and with the Gregorian choir chanting and singing. The entire church was lit only with candlelights. And sitting there, side by side, was just so… tranquil, even though the church was filled to the brim!
Monica came with the rings, and we were married.

The party was held at Jørgensens Hotel, and they had WONDERFUL food, and all in all everybody, I think, had a lot of fun. A lot of good speeches were held. I especially enjoyed my mother-in-law’s speech, which commanded us to do “Salomon’s Lovsang” (Salomon’s praise?) between the two of us. Michael and I tried to act it as best as we could, which was fun, but hard to do without cracking into laughter. It’s the only really funny part from the Bible.

And I think every one of our friends had a real ball watching us!
Monica and Keon held a joint speech, which was both moving and funny, and I thought they sorta represented the friend’s fine. But then Skyen came up, and I figured that he’d have nothing more to say that hadn’t been said already. But I was wrong, and he held a very moving speech, hailing the everyday life, and the mutual acceptance. And I was almost crying again.

Generally, I think I held up rather well. I cried at the church, but nobody saw, thank god. I cried at my father and mothers speech, and at Michaels. I almost cried at Grandmother’s, and at Monica and Keon’s. But all in all I didn’t cry much. This is where Mads will beat me into admitting that I cried waterfalls when he hugged me tightly, told me that he loved me and was so happy on my behalf, and that he hoped that I was as happy as he was (with Heidi). We’ve been close to being real siblings, growing up as neighbors for 14 years.

We totally botched the waltz part, which is so fun, because we practiced so much on it. Also, people told us we did it too fast. Well, according to the stupid DVD we had as reference (apart from the usual waltz that we both knew in advance) it’s supposed to be that fast. O__o Oh well, no prob. :D It sure didn’t put a dent in my experience and enjoyment of the evening.

On the other hand, it only reminded me of all the times where we practiced and screwed up, breaking down laughing, and not able to get back practicing before we were done laughing.

People have been so nice with presents. They were thoughtful, and I was amazed there was so many of them, seeing how we’d specifically asked NOT to get presents, because we’d rather that people spend the money on costumes, so that they might have a fun experience being on the fair dressed up (it’s an entirely different experience!). But they were there, and wow.

Wolfie made people gather to get us a Wii, which I’m impressed about, and I think he was rather proud! (He beamed so much! :D). I’m currently watching Supernatural, which we got from Michael’s cousin. And I’m looking forward to watching Karas! :D

But most of all, the greatest gift we got, was the experience. And people’s kind words. :D So thank you all, and pictures will be posted at a later date. ;) Promise.

And now: I tag Monica! Your turn next, darling! :P
