So I went into work today after 2 days off - was looking forward to working for the next few days before my week of vacation that starts Sunday. I was in a great mood when I walked in - and was in a pretty bad mood when I left 15 minutes later. After 6 and a half years, the powers that be at Future Shop decided to terminate me without cause.

At first I was upset.

Then I saw the severance pay.

So here's the deal, I get paid to NOT work for the next 16 weeks. If I get a job within that time, they cut my severance. So that means it's in my best interest not to get a job over the next 4 months (unless it pays more than my severance).

So Cat's going back to school! I'm going to visit a couple places today that have self-paced programs, and I'm going to cram my noggin with as much learnin' as possible over the next 4 months. SWEET! I'm actually getting excited. I've wanted to go back to school for some time now, and thanks to sub-par productivity at work, I now can.

Moral of the story? Start slacking and your dreams will come true? Probably not. Let's say: Sometimes a bad situation can become a great opportunity.
