Disclaimer: Though real people are used as characters, this fic bears no resemblance to Real Life and these people are not owned by me.
Comments/Notes: Though Yoona could possibly be the same as the one from SNSD, it's not specifically intended to be. I just needed some girl names for SM trainees.
Also should note that I have two younger brothers and it's been my experience that teenage boys of a certain age seem to handle upsetting things in one of two ways (that meaning, that one of my brothers handled things in the one way, and the other handled things in the other way, and thus if there is a third/fourth/fifth way, I don't know these because I only have two brothers): One is to get CrazyViolentAngry, the other is to act like he doesn't care and then go find a quiet hidden place to break down and cry where no one can see him. So while you may find this OOC for Yunho, it's not an unheard of reaction to having someone call one's sexuality into question, having one's future being threatened, and thinking that one's self is somehow broken.
Summary:
In which Donghae helps Yunho understand certain things.

Very little could disrupt Lee Donghae's attention when he was seriously into his dancing trance. The music flowed through him, drowning out all outside stimuli and his body moved with it without conscious thought or effort.
He'd barely even noticed when his friend had entered the studio room he was dancing in, the loud slam of the door simply adding to the beat being pounded out by the stereo. The second person scurrying into the room momentarily and disappearing again never registered at all.
The sniffles and hiccuping cries, though.... They were hardly audible and he might have been able to ignore them except he'd opened his eyes at just the wrong time and found himself staring straight at the tear-soaked miserable face of one of his best friends in the entire world. It was enough to kill the buzz that dancing gave him and stop him cold.
It took a second to discern the real Yunho from the myriad of reflections that bounced around the mirrored room, but Donghae didn't hesitate to gather the older boy close and hug him tight. He held Yunho until his friend had cried himself out and was slumped limply against him, long after the cd had stopped.
Though Yunho was one of the most expressive people Donghae had ever met, he was also someone who didn't like to bother other people with his hurts and troubles. He'd never actually seen Yunho cry, only heard it late at night when the lights were out and everyone in the dorms was supposed to be asleep. Once or twice he'd crawled into Yunho's bunk and held him similarly, but what happened in the cover of darkness was never mentioned in the harsh light of day. Yunho showed his gratitude in a million small ways, but they never ever talked about why.
“Hey, Ho,” Donghae said softly. The soft teasing play on their names didn't even garner a hint of humor and Donghae hugged Yunho tighter. Yunho was the one who had found it so hilarious in the first place. To not even acknowledge it meant that the situation was worse than he thought. He bit his lip and let his head rest against Yunho's. It went against every boy code he knew, but somehow he didn't think this was going to be a time they could get away with just ignoring whatever was wrong until it went away. “What's wrong?”
Yunho sniffled a little bit and then sighed, too tired at this point to actually even muster his usual pretense at pride and manliness. He was barely fifteen, after all, and Donghae would never call him on his over emotionalism. “What's not?”
Donghae blinked slightly, unsure how to answer that. Yunho was usually so much more positive than everyone else. “Umm...”
But he didn't have to come up with a response because it was like the dam had broken. The story spilled out of Yunho in a rush of too fast words flavored with the southern accent Yunho tried so hard to dampen down usually that Donghae had to piece some of it together with guesswork. “Soonlee said I was broken because I don't like to waste my time messing around with the girls and then Yoona said … something else really mean. Then Jaejoong showed up and dared me to kiss Soonlee and I know he was trying to help, but really it just made things worse because then one of the styling noonas came in and now Soonlee and I are in a lot of trouble. Someone said they may even send us home so we can't be those sorts of bad influences on the good kids.” He made a despairing sound as Donghae gaped at him. The idea that anyone could think Yunho was a bad influence on anybody was mind boggling. “And the worst part of everything is that I think maybe Soonlee is right!” Yunho wailed and buried his face against Donghae's neck. “I am broken!”
“You're not broken, Yunho.” Donghae patted the others back and sighed softly. Stupid girls. He understood they only picked on Yunho because they wanted his attention and he was oblivious to them all, but really. They had no idea how much worse they were actually making things. He tugged on Yunho's hair, trying to get the other to look at him. “All right? You're not. You're way too busy to be worrying about girls right now.”
Yunho sniffled and looked at him miserably. “But I am broken, Donghae. It was horrible.”
“...” Donghae tilted his head, unsure if he'd actually understood what Yunho was saying. “What was horrible?”
“Kissing Soonlee!” Yunho was wailing again, this time flailing his arms about. Donghae had to duck to keep from getting smacked in the face. “It was the most awful thing ever! It was so gross! I'd rather eat that disgusting kimchi and sauce concoction that Jaejoong made last week!”
Donghae's stomach turned a little in remembrance, but he forced himself to push it back. “Okay, so you don't like Soonlee that way. That doesn't make you broken.”
“But I feel the same way about Yoona!”
“She's eleven. I'd hope you'd feel grossed out by her.”
“And Dana? And BoA? And any other female here???”
Laughing a little, Donghae shook his head. “Okay, then either you're a late bloomer or you like guys. That doesn't make you broken. Are there any guys you want to kiss?”
Finally Yunho subsided a moment, thinking it over. He shook his head, then paused and shrugged. “I don't know. I never thought about it.” Another short pause and he made a face. “Except, you know, when Jaejoong was running around the dorms that time threatening to kiss everyone.”
“Well? Were you grossed out by it?”
Yunho shrugged. “I was too busy laughing and trying to get away to think about it much.”
Donghae considered carefully, then leaned forward and kissed Yunho. His friend yelped and jerked back, looking stunned, but Donghae just arched an eyebrow. “Well? Still want Jaejoong's kimchi more?”
“I-” The shock of the moment seemed to pass and Yunho looked back at him consideringly. He still looked a little confused, though. “I don't … think so? Can we try again? But... with warning this time?”
Donghae shrugged and nodded. He was comfortable with himself and his friend and he'd long since come to terms with the fact that he found much to be attracted to in both sexes. This time, he let Yunho make the first move.
The first tentative touch of lips made Donghae's eyes slip shut. It was obviously unfamiliar territory to Yunho, kissing in general not just kissing another boy, but it was still careful and chaste and sweet much like Yunho himself.
When it seemed like Yunho might pull back, Donghae couldn't help the devilish urge that made him hold tight to the back of Yunho's neck and keep him there. He tilted his head slightly and opened his mouth against Yunho's, tongue flicking slight to request entrance. Yunho hesitated a moment before allowing Donghae to deepen the kiss. It was a little less chaste, but Donghae cared enough about Yunho to let it stay careful and sweet until his virgin friend actually wanted it to be something more.
When they finally separated, Yunho's hand went to his lips and he stared at Donghae with a thoughtful expression.
“Well?” Not that Donghae was nervous or anything, he knew he was a good kisser, but still, just being stared at like that....
Though his face was still splotchy and his eyes were still red from his earlier tears, the smile that bloomed on Yunho's face was bright and impish. “I'm still not sure. I think we should try again.”
Donghae laughed even as he complied.
