Sorry about the mix up, guys. The fic wasn't friends locked, it was made private because I'm making some changes, but I completely forgot that I'd posted a link to
jaeho_detox. ^_^;; My bad. I've unlocked it again. When I'm able to actually make the changes, I will repost and redirect readers. Again, sorry for the inconvenience. ~ Yujji
Title: Life or Something Like It - Prologue

Author: M_K Yujji
Rating: PG-13
Genre: Drama
Characters: DBSK , other various members of the Asian entertainment scene.

Disclaimer: Though real people are used as characters, this fic bears no resemblance to Real Life and these people are not owned by me.
Comments/Notes: Since Unbalanced is finished, The Game is practically finished, and The Long Exile is stalled out on the research side of things, I thought it might be okay to go ahead and start posting my next fic. Okay, it should be pretty obvious, but just in case, let me clarify that this is of the 'what happens after DBSK' genre.
Summary:
Even when Gods fall, they still exist.

“Are we there yet?” The little girl asked, only to be shushed by her twin brother.
The man sitting next to them sighed and rubbed tired eyes. “Not yet.”
There was a moment of silent communication between the children before the boy sat up slightly straighter. “Will it be a long time?”
At least they were actually speaking to him? The adult wondered to himself. It was an improvement from only the week before when their custody had been officially changed over to him. That day they'd only answered any questions directed at them and otherwise remained as quiet as pale, timid ghosts haunting his footsteps.
He was afraid to know what their grandmother had done to them to make them so afraid when speaking to adults.
Or their mother, for that matter.
With another sigh, he glanced at his watch and tried to calculate how much further. He'd spent so many years in America that figuring out the time change took him a moment. “Not long to the airport.”
That seemed to satisfy them momentarily as they went back to the 'twin thing' as he'd started calling it. It was a little eerie to watch, but he supposed he'd get used to it.
At the moment, he had other things to worry about.
Almost seven years spent abroad, he'd had little contact with the ones he'd left behind. He still wrote his mother - his adopted mother - at least once a month, sometimes called her especially if it was a holiday. Emails were exchanged on a semi-regular basis with his best friend. Every now and again one of his sisters would call him up and scold him for missing this birthday or that anniversary.
But that was it.
Five plus years of living in the back pockets of four other people and he hadn't even spoken to three of them in almost seven years.
Funny that when he'd looked down into the twin faces of the two children entrusted into his care, his first thought had been of them.
Well, no. His first thought had been along the lines of Oh fuck, what have I gotten myself into?
Followed quickly with a Yunho will know what to do. Yunho will fix it.
Kim Jaejoong stared at his reflection in the small airplane window and wondered how the hell he was going to rebuild that particular burnt bridge.
