My STBB is now over 20K. I'm working on the final fight scene (I had to start over because I realized that there was no way I could keep the integrity of the fight from Jim's POV while Jim was having to watch via a viewscreen with an extremely limited perspective). After that, there's the wrap up scenes where everyone ponders the shit that just went down and how it's going to effect where they go from there. And possibly a little hint of the probable sequel that is already brewing.

As soon as I'm done, my beta and I will be doing an in-depth walk through of the fic fix any continuity errors (i.e. the body count) and what not. She'll point out all the places where my prose left too much confusion or a conflict of emotion that was inappropriate for the story and any place where something threw her out of the story. Then I'll start fleshing out the places where I skimped on description and details in favor of expediency (deadlines are the detail's silent killer).

Then we'll do another walk through, smooth out the edges.

Then we'll go through it again to make sure I didn't mess up any continuity with those changes.

Afterwards, I'll send my fic to a secondary beta and repeat the process.

Being done (or almost done as the case may be at the moment) doesn't really mean being done, does it? lol. The sad truth is that all my long fics go through this process and I can still sit down to one of them now, years after I wrote it, and pick out mistakes.

Art claims go up in two days for STBB. Cross your fingers that someone actually wants my summary, yeah?
