Why does everyone compare Shinee to DBSK? I mean, really? They're nowhere near that good. But I keep seeing/hearing it Shinee is the group that has the best chance of being what DBSK was. Shinee is amazing. Shinee is DBSK only younger. Shinee Shinee Shinee.
They're okay. Maybe I'm not seeing everything they can do, but they only have a handful of songs that I like. :x and one of those I like better when it's Seobie and Dongwoon doing it.
I do not think they're all that an a bag of chips.
They're no where near what DBSK was. What HoMin and JYJ still are. They just aren't, and hey, there's no shame in that because DBSK was comprised of five singularly amazing talents that combined into something truly awe-inspiring.
Love them or hate them, you can't deny that no one sang like DBSK. Like HoMin and JYJ.
I adore Beast. Like, I'd sell my soul to go to a solo concert of theirs. I even love Beast more than I ever did DBSK.
But.
Having said that. I don't think they're on the same level. Because no one is. Are they improving? Yes. Can they get to the same level? I think they have the talent and the perseverance and the heart to damned well try. And I hope they succeed.
But the thing about DBSK was that it was more than talent. More than personality. More than heart.
What made DBSK so special was that it was the right combination of things, of people, of talents that came together at the right time in the right place. And then they went through exactly the right hardships and successes.
I don't think SM truly appreciated what they were setting into motion when they put those five boys together and called them gods.
And I'm not sure if that can ever truly be replaced.
People are going to be making comparisons for years and I get that. I do. Just like people are comparing other bands to the Beatles even today. Well guess what? I may not like the Beatles, but there will never be another Beatles.
And whether you call them DBSK or TVXQ or Toho or just HoMin and JYJ...
there will never be another Gods of the Rising East.
