Yoseob wasn’t sure when he and Doojoon had started growing apart, but he didn’t like it.

He missed the days when he could cuddle up to his friend and know without any hesitation that Doojoon would accept it, pulling him closer and focusing on Yoseob like he was the only thing in the world that mattered. He missed catching Doojoon’s eye across a crowded room and knowing that they didn’t need words to understand what they wanted to say to each other.

Now it always seemed like Doojoon was too busy or too distracted to even notice that Yoseob was staring after him, waiting to be met halfway like he always had been before.

Now it seemed like everyone else came first and there was little left over for Yoseob.

Yoseob tried not to be bitter about that, but he knew he wasn’t handling it as well as he ought to have.

He overcompensated for the lack of Doojoon-affection by throwing himself on the others at any given opportunity. Dongwoon and Junhyung in particular had become his Doojoon-substitutes of choice.

Junhyung took the overflow of Yoseob’s affection and neediness in stride, allowing the younger boy to attach himself to his side without complaints no matter how tired or busy he happened to be. He knew that Yoseob wasn’t built mentally or emotionally to stand alone and he’d seen the distance opening between Doojoon and Yoseob long before they had. He wasn’t entirely sure how to close it back up again - or indeed, if it even could be closed again - but he was willing to stand in where needed until they either managed it or came to terms with the seperation.

Dongwoon, on the other hand, was thrilled to offer Yoseob whatever support or affection he needed. He had his own feelings for Yoseob to worry about and though he felt guilty as hell for taking advantage of a rift that was obviously upsetting the older boy, he was too human to let it keep him from enjoying the way Yoseob clung to him. He’d never admit it aloud, but as far as he was concerned, if Doojoon was dumb enough to let someone like Yoseob slip through his fingers, well….

Dongwoon wasn’t.
