Nothing says adventure like climbing through a foot and a half of gap to get into an abandoned building (while bricks are sliding out from under you, falling on your head, and dust is blowing into your eyes), skirting caved in floors ("It wouldn't be the first time I've fallen through a floor!" -Chelle "Yeah, and it wouldn't be too bad till those sinks *points* fell in down after you!" -Nan), skirting security (the rest of the site is active), poking up through sweltering underground tunnels (gopher one, gopher one, let's all have some gopher fun!), and making fun new friends to play with later! (They scared the hell out of me when I heard them yelling for us, arr...damn cellphones with no reception.)
Totally and completely exhausted, photographs to come. I think Allen and I washed a pound of dirt and grime off ourselves tonight -- food when we finally got home around 9pm made us feel 100% better, if not for the exhaustion, the windchill in our lungs, and the aching pain in our bodies. We're going to feel it tomorrow, arr. These short posts are more to remind me of the dates we went on them than anything x.x I should have a separate journal for trip entries soon. Till then, visit www.uer.ca
And I've finally gotten to see a bit of the NY countryside, ahhh. And oh man...some of the people out in the country live in what looks like abandoned buildings!
