A memory plucked from the abyss of my mind

I've spent the last few days searching for a job, and this morning while I was taking a shower I remembered a fun memory when I was looking for a job on campus my freshman year. One cold day in early December '02 I found myself in the back room of the bookstore talking to the then manager of the back end of the store, Lee Jefferson. Here's a little snippet of the conversation.

"Hi, my name is Robby and I was wondering if you guys were hiring."
Lee looked at me for a sec and replied, "Robby, do you have a girlfriend?"
"No, sir, I don't."
"Well, no wonder you don't, you don't have any money, can't have a girlfriend if you don't have any money."
"Heh, I guess not."
He then turned to one of the people in the back room with us and said, "Hey, could you hand me an application? I need to get this man sexed up."

So began the greatest seasonal job I ever had. There's nothing quite like working in a bookstore. *sigh*
