This weekend I went to Powell's for the first time in forever and a friend was all, "Hey, lol, Hawaiian ghost stories!" because she lives to mock me and my choice in entertainment, always. And then I maybe bought the book and read a little bit of it and discovered The Drowning Pool in Waimea Falls Park on Oahu. The author says he spoke to a journalist who discovered the demographic profile of the drowning victims for the past fifty years (as of 1998, when the book the story is from was published) were ~strangely similar. (Caucasian males ages 18-25 who were in the military.)

When I read that I was all like. Oh, hey. STEVE. You and some buddies home on leave or something and then there are shenanigans and everyone wants to check out this place that is supposedly haunted like the Scooby gang and you are like. "NO." Because there are stories about all these drownings and your friends are all, "Oh, come on, what's the worst that could happen? We're Navy." You're just like, "JfC, are you trying to jinx us? Also, seriously, guys. NO. >:(((((((((((((((((((((((((((((((((("

And then. IDK. Shenanigans, I guess? Possibly actual Scooby Snacks?

Also. I watched the last half hour or so of this horrible movie with a man-eating crocodile last night on television and was like, "Man, I really need to watch more bad monster movies. They're hilarious awesome."
