There was a book I read in high school (how so very long ago?) that I loved to pieces. Literally. I read it so many times the cover fell off, but I taped it back on like a champ. And then random pages fell out, and taping them back in didn't work so well. And then I lost track of it in the horror that was my room at the time, and when I found it again it was. It was no longer a book. (The horror, the horror.)

Since I hadn't read this book of wondrousness (Path of the Fury by David Weber) for far too long and missed it so, I was in the mood to read it again to see if it was as awesome as I remembered or if it was going to turn out to be a thing of terribleness. (Beings out of Greek mythology in spaaaace. How could that ever be terrible?)

And then! And then I discovered in between the time I first fell in love with the book and now, David Weber had gone back and done a re-write (In Fury Born) in which he adds a novel-length prequel that fleshes out the main character's backstory before leading into the events in Path of the Fury.

Hearts in my eyes, people. Hearts in my eyes.

I haven't had time to read it just yet, but oh. The original was full of fantastic characters and adventures in spaaaace and just. Yes.

You can get an e-book copy of In Fury Born here to read to your heart's content. I would also suggest the Honor Harrington series because it, too, is pretty damn fantastic.
