[event] Japan Expo Belgium

Nov 08, 2011 23:16

First edition, and last I will attend. It was Japan Expo, with all it's organization flaws multiplied: Not enough space in the alleys, too much noise from the gamer half of the hall, no karaoke (NO 1000 PARCENT RABU RABU D:), too much queuing for food, too many bootleg stores (outnumbering the legit ones), only one publisher on site, not notable Japanese guests, no freebies, Fairy Tail on repeat instead of new anime screenings etc etc. It was however so crowded, I didn't find my friends I was supposed to meet.

The highlight of the day was that I saw lucy_hp again and we chit-chatted the boredom aways during the queues (I actually feel sorry for the people behind us in the queue, they seemed like nice, "normal" people, who probably didn't need so much SPN, Alex O'Loughlin or Akira Ishida fangirling in their lives. Ahem. But seriously that Akira Ishida Aishite Agerunya Drama CD ASDFHJKL

The other positive aspect of "not many booths" is that my money is safe (and amazon also lowered their prices on the Garden of Sinners boxset, meaning I can still afford it at the end of the month wohooo).

It wasn't the worst con-experience ever, but I would have been pissed if I'd skipped classes on Friday and Saturday for this.
I indulged myself some retail-therapy and bought discounted new mangas, such as the ever-racy Cosplay Cops, the velvety Vampire Host Deluxe edition and the overall awesome Karneval 1+2. I will talk again about the latter soon, because OMG love at first read.
