“Mou, Tat-chan...” Jin whined.
“What?” Ueda raised his eyebrows as if he didn’t know what the latter want. Jin pouted as he rolled his eyes.
“I’m horny,” Jin rested his head on the table.
“So?”
Jin tilted his head a bit and grunted. “Isn’t it obvious to have sex with your boyfriend when you’re horny?”
Ueda glanced at Jin. His hands were still busy preparing coffee for the daily guest and it looks like he wasn’t going to stop any moment from then. “The night clubs are always welcomed for you. And don’t tell me Ryo and Pi aren’t willing enough to keep you accompany,”
Jin frowned. “You seriously don’t mind if your boyfriend sleeps with someone else?” he gaped.
“Of course I don’t mind,” Ueda replied coldly. “But the relationship ends once that happens,”
That means break up, huh. Jin pouted. It had been two weeks since they started dating. Jin was the one proposing the idea. Even though Ueda hesitated at first, Jin reassured him that it’ll work out. He loved the older man. Maybe not since forever, but working together for almost 10 years in a same band had brought them closer. And once Jin quit the band, Ueda was the one he couldn’t stop thinking about. Thus he kept on bugging Ueda until two weeks ago, he confessed. Of course, Ueda rejected. Jin did not hold a faithful loyal partner image in Ueda’s eyes. It took Jin some time to plead Ueda. “Just give it a chance, Tat-chan. What could that hurt?” And that was where everything started. Their relationship is quite a platonic one though. Never once did Jin ever get to touch his new boyfriend. Well, not that he doesn’t want to, he was drooling enough just by looking at his boyfriend at home.
“Ne, Tat-chan,” Jin sat up. “You still doubt me, don’t you?”
Ueda shot him a glare. With that, Jin raised his hands in silent surrender. “Don’t shoot,” Jin said dryly.
Still glaring, Ueda settled himself at the counter, placing two fresh cups of coffee and motioned Jin to join him. Jin hopped to Ueda’s side, curling his hands around the warm cup and took a grateful sip of the warm liquid.
“I failed to see how committed you are in this relationship, Jin. The only thing you’ve been talking about this whole two weeks are all about sex,” Ueda sighed making Jin blinked a few times.
“Are you implying that I am not serious in this relationship?” Jin exclaimed.
“Well, whatever you want to call it, I'm not in the market for it. You got your chance, and I’m going to end it in another two weeks if nothing improves,” Ueda interjected.
“What?!”

The next thing Jin knew, he was drinking at a nearby bar, and thinking deeply about what Ueda said earlier which to him, sounded so much like a threat. Maybe they weren’t meant together. Maybe Tat-chan would never love him the way he do. Defiantly Jin reached for another glass of sake, hoping to drown out the thought of losing someone he finally felt so important.
A hand on his shoulder yanked Jin out of his thoughts. Turning his head around, his eyes catch the sight of his best friend, Nishikido Ryo standing by his side with a smile. Preemptively Ryo sat by his side, requesting his own favorite wine. He didn’t plan to get drunk tonight, so a mild alcohol would do a great treat.
“How do you know I’m here?” Jin asked in surprise.
“Instinct,” Ryo replied before reaching his wine from the barman. Jin could barely contain the urge to snap at Ryo for his annoying answer.
“Is that an alcohol effect or did you just glare at me like I’m not wanted here?” Ryo mumbled, taking one gulp of his own glass.
Silence enveloping the two friends as Jin figured if it would be a great idea discussing the matter with Ryo. Finding the right time to broach his request, Jin wondered if matters concerning Ueda would really worth Ryo’s opinion. It would be a different case if the one sitting next to him is Yamapi instead, but he really had no choice. The deadline is another two weeks. Reluctantly, Jin cleared his throat as his mind trying to form a coherent sentence.
“What did you want to talk about?” Ryo suddenly spoke. Jin nearly gaped. Was he that transparent?
“You looked like you don’t enjoy the drink,” Ryo stared at Jin with barely masked curiosity as he took another glass of wine. “Anything to do with Ueda?”
Jin ducked his head. “I still cannot gain his trust,” he whispered, just enough to be heard by the latter. Ryo’s eyebrows rose.
“You failed to seduce him?” Ryo burst into laughter. Jin turned in shocked.
“Is that something to laugh at?” Jin remarked.
“Seriously, the oh-so-hot Akanishi Jin can’t even touch his own boyfriend!” Ryo didn’t stop laughing. His eyes lifting to fix Jin with an incredulous look, just to catch sight of a glare beginning to form on his friend’s face. “Sorry, didn’t mean to offend you,” he quickly added.
Jin sighed, inclining his head. “I no longer know what I should do to show him how important this relationship is to me,”
Ryo frowned in concentration. “Maybe you should stop ‘doing’ and start ‘talking’ instead?”
Jin took a deep breath and averted his eyes. “What do you mean?” he retorted.
“Come on, Jin. We both know you’re not wordy expressive. Its fine with me and Pi, we all know you care. But Ueda might want something different. Maybe he needs some words of affirmation,” Ryo coolly took another glass of his wine.
“Words of affirmation?”
Ryo sighed deeply. “Please, Jin. For songwriters like us, don’t tell me you can’t even say simple words like ‘I love you’. Open up once in a while and convince him that he really means something to you,” the look Ryo leveled at him implied that he was a total imbecile. Glancing at his watch, Ryo slowly stood up. “I have to go now, I have a show tomorrow,” Ryo placed a few yen on the table. “And don’t try to call Pi. Tomorrow’s show consist of all NEWS members, and I am not pleased to have anyone turning up late,” and with that message, Ryo left Jin alone thinking in the bar.

Ueda had just finished clearing up after dinner as he looked at the calendar hanging up at one side of the living room. It’s been quite a few days Jin didn’t visit him. Ueda sighed. Wait, why does he even bothered by that? He had determined to break up with him after all. Ueda literally shook his head. No, he’s not missing that guy. Not at all!
A knock suddenly heard on his door. Slowly Ueda made his way and eased the door open with more than a little disquiet. He took a deep breath when he saw Jin standing outside with his guitar and a few sheets of paper. Perfect timing! Now what? Ueda waved a hand to invite him in and that’s all Jin needed before he strode himself in towards Ueda’s comfortable leather sofa.
“What do you want this time? Another attempt for sex?” Ueda closed his door and followed the younger one.
“There’s something I want to show you,” Jin said excitedly. He took out his guitar and placed the papers on the table. “I wrote and composed a new song, I hope you can have a look and give your opinion,” he said smugly.
“A new song?” Ueda raised his eyebrows questioningly.
“Aww, come on, Tat-chan. We did this before. It’s not like I want you to sing with me like we did with Butterfly, but please just have a look,” Jin pulled Ueda’s hand so the boxer was forced to sit with him.
“Either way, it doesn’t matter, Jin. You never did listen to me anyway. Butterfly is so much your style too,” Ueda twisted his wrist under Jin’s insisting grip to free himself.
“No, I want to know what you think of it,”
“Why?”
“Because you’re important to me,”
Ueda blinked. What? What did he just say? Did he hear him wrong or something?”
“Besides, this is a song I came up when I think of you. So more or less, you can call it a song dedicated to you,” Jin added.
Ueda was left speechless. His eyes were staring at Jin in disbelief. Jin had never expressed his feelings so boldly before. Well, it’s Jin’s nature to bottle everything up. He never really stands up for himself. One of the reasons why he had quite a bad image in their entertainment industry. You have to know him instead to understand him. Ueda shrugged as he took the papers and read them carefully. The song was quite an easy piece. It used quite a lot of D major chords, followed by G and A major chords. Not much of minor chords, but a few Fm#, Bm and Em are seen in a few lines, and that’s all the minor chords used. Ueda smiled. Sounded so much like Jin’s style. Ueda moved to reading the lyric.
In this beautiful morning
I smiled to myself
Birds chirping outside the window
As if they’re calling your name
I wish I had my eyes
High up in the sky
So I could watch you
Every time
Every where you are
Anywhere you will go
Walking on this spreading globe
I would follow you
Just like how the air sweeping you
Because there’s the need
The symbiosis between us
I’m not good in writing poetry
I’m not good in artistic recital
The only thing I sincerely know
Is that I love you.
“It’s a simple song,” Ueda commented.
“I love simplicity,” Jin replied quickly. “I know you prefer the complex ones. That’s what I meant by our symbiosis,”
Ueda frowned in confusion. “Our symbiosis?”
Jin beamed into a smile as he wrapped his arms around Ueda’s waist. Ueda leaned in with awed silence, giving in to the other’s will.
“We both love music, but we have different views on it. We complete each other’s insufficiency,” Jin whispered to Ueda’s ears. “I’m not perfect. Neither are you. But being with you makes me feel complete,”
For a minute, Ueda was silent. Jin tightened his hold around the man, resting his chin on top of Ueda’s head. Slowly Ueda relaxed and Jin dropped a light kiss onto his cheek. Ueda’s lips curled into a smile and unconsciously he giggled. They never had any physical contact, now that they remembered. Jin lowered his eyelids as he took a deep breath. Cautiously Jin leaned in, trying to capture his boyfriend’s lips with his own. And to Jin’s surprise, Ueda didn’t argue. Though Jin could feel the man stiffened. It was just a warm kiss, lasted for a few seconds as Jin broke the kiss and stared down to his lover.
“Relax,” Jin murmured. “I don’t bite. Not unless you asked me to anyway,”
Ueda couldn’t help but laugh as he swatted Jin’s arm in mock admonishment. Jin chuckled along and relieved when Ueda finally settled down in his arms, catching up in the rhythmic beats of Jin’s heart. The surrounding felt so peaceful that night, though it seems drizzling outside.
“Your view is quite interesting. I should have paid more attention to what you write. Simple, but deep,” Ueda whispered back.
Jin shrugged. “Perhaps you should pay more attention to me. I’m quite readable,”
“I know,” Ueda agreed. “That’s why you’re not a good actor,”
“Hey! You’re one to talk!” Jin complained, sharing their laughter. And for a moment, Ueda simply stared at Jin, before he gave up and admitted to himself that he had fallen for this baka somewhere along the line. Maybe some part of him had always been in love with Jin.
Jin stared back, as he reached out and cupped the boxer’s head, drawing them closer for another kiss, showing his intent was anything but pure. The sparks quickly flared into a flame, and their kisses grew feverish as their hands roamed over every inch of skin they could uncover with quick caresses. Jin eagerly moved to lay a trail of kissed along Ueda’s jaw line earning him gasps from the older man. By then, they knew it seemed they were done talking. Ueda could feel Jin’s hands stroking his back, travelling all over his body in fleeting touches. He wasn’t sure when, by the time he realized it, they were both laying on the cold floor of his apartment. Instinctively Ueda rocked his hips against Jin followed by a groan when he felt Jin’s fingers undoing his shirt. Jin’s hands swept up once the shirt was thrown away, not even once missing the kisses trailing down Ueda’s chest. Ueda suddenly groaned softly when he felt Jin stopped and laid his head on Ueda’s abs. Jin took in his own breath, trying to control his own aching body.
“We can still stop,” Jin hissed, looking up to Ueda’s eyes and ground up. He didn’t want to force this. Ueda stared back in silence, then Jin dropped his head onto Ueda’s shoulder burying his face in Ueda’s neck. A ragged groan escaped as he rocked his hips against Ueda’s, granting the elder another small taste of ecstasy.
“Please, don’t make me stop now,” Jin begged. “You feel so good,” the words send a little thrill all along Ueda’s spine.
Ueda raised his right hand, palming his forehead. His mind spinning, he couldn’t get the right word to answer. Thus he tilted his hips upward. Jin grunted and bit his lower lip, obviously struggling to hold back. He lifted his head to look searchingly into Ueda’s eyes. He could see the steady gaze in Ueda’s eyes, and that is all the permission he needed to proceed, helping himself for the rest of the night.
**********
Moments later they were laying on Ueda’s bed drenching in sweat, which Ueda himself had no idea how long they laid tangled with each other like that, as their breathing slowly returned to normal. Their own body heat warmed themselves up through the coldness of the rainy weather. Ueda's mind was completely blank. Jin stirred and rolled over, bringing Ueda with him so the elder rested on Jin’s chest again. Ueda smiled as he felt Jin ghost a kiss over his hair.
“I might consider postponing our break up to some other time,” Ueda said, nearly laughed when Jin’s entire body jerked with sudden tension.
“What? Do you mean to tell me that after everything, you’re still not satisfied?” clearly enough Jin was trying very hard to reign in his temper. Disbelief wound through the words.
Lifting himself up on one elbow, Ueda hovered over Jin, ignoring the glare Jin directed at him, and brushed their mouth in a kiss. His tongue slid out to trace the seam of Jin’s lips and his hand trailed slowly down Jin’s chest. Jin’s breath caught and the glare disappeared. Ueda lifted his eyes to Jin’s, and giggled.
“Well, you do improve. I’m not sure if commitment matters so much when it’s weighed against satisfaction, though,” Ueda lowered his lashes and let his hand trail over Jin’s stomach to draw small circles on his hip.
Jin growled and moved swiftly that the next thing they knew Ueda was lying beneath Jin again. Jin’s voice vibrating pleasurably against Ueda’s skin as he kissed Ueda’s neck. “Maybe ‘satisfied’ is the wrong word. Should I rather say that I can’t believe that you still doubt me?”
Ueda laughed. “It's a compensation, since I can only understand you through your songs. I'm sure you can convince me otherwise-” his words were cut off when Jin captured his lips in another searing kiss.
“Do you want me to convince you or do you want to talk?” Jin murmured against Ueda’s mouth.
Ueda sighed as he flipped them over and took control. “How about you just let me ‘talk’ this time,” he whispered.
Jin smiled into the kiss, giving in to his lover as he made a mental note to thank Ryo afterward. Of course not tonight, as it seems like it's going to be quite a long rainy night for them. Ryo, you really are a good friend. Jin grinned devilishly in victory.
