My new apartment is shaping up nicely.
When I've gotten everything stored away and tidied up, I'll take some pictures and post. As expected, my mom was really good at getting stuff in the right spots, and with my undiscovered ability to pick the right furniture, I now have a great bedroom, a really cozy kitchen, a practical (and huge!) bathroom, and an awesome livingroom.
I ended up buying more IKEA furniture (it's cheap, practical, and it looks nice - what more can you ask for?) I bought a Liatorp sideboard for the livingroom, to keep my nice dishes and wineglasses and other pretty things
and a cabinet for the kitchen. Something like this, only with different feet, and in white.
I also bought 4 kitchen chairs
