"Aiba-san?"
"Hai. I heard you're in Paris?"
"Exactly the reason why I'm feeling quite surprised at you calling me. How did you even get my phone number?"
"Thats for me to know, and for you to find out. Point is, I'm calling you to tell you about something. About Sho, actually."
Silence, and then, "I have no need for anything about him."
"Just listen me out, Sayakomi-san." Aiba pleaded, sounding quite the child. Point is, he knew, how Sho needed someone these days, and the way he looked at Sayakomi Tomomi was... different. The idiot may not know it himself, but his best friend definitely did.
---
The weather in Paris did her no good, with the cold and hot wind alternating almost as quickly as a ladies mood swings, Tomomi was down with a fever before the week was out.. As the girl stepped in Narita Airport, heading towards the entrance where her cab awaited, her eyes squinted, and shut, as she tried to block out the growing headache.
The sharp of her ring tone prompted Tomomi to pick up her cell, but as she rubbed her temples, a smile curved her lips as she heard the voice of her friend. "Kimi-chan, where are you?"
"In the hospital."
"What?!" her voice exclaimed, eyes shooting open, as murderous thoughts started going through her head, all aimed at a certain Matsumoto Jun. On the other line, Kiyomi laughed, before she spoke again. "I'm fine. I just-"
"I'm going to kill him."
"Ah, yada. Its not Jun-kun's fault."
"What did I do?!" Tomomi grinned again, as she heard Jun's exclamation from the other end, and Kiyomi's laugh as she tried to placate her rather playful boyfriend. Listening to them however, Tomomi's smile wilted a little. It hurt sometimes, to know that everyone had someone. Everyone except for her.
"Ne, Tomi-chan. Can you substitute for me tomorrow? I won't get discharged till days later. Koji-kun wants me to do a blood transfusion again."
"Sure, where?"
"Sho-kun's solo costume."
---
Sho crossed his legs as he sat in his dressing room, flipping through a magazine listlessly. Despite it being a week already, Sho still thought about the girl he thinks is still in Paris. Every night her smile ghosted in his dreams, but at the same time, Sho wondered just who exactly was doing his costume today, since he was sure Jun wouldn't let Kiyomi take a step out of the hospital.
But when the doors opened, he saw the last figure he expected to see. "Tomomi?"
"Thats Sayakomi, Sakurai-san."
Sho however, was in too much of a shock to actually concoct a reply. He just stared, and stared, as Tomomi walked in with a backpack, and placed the items on the table nearby. If asked to explain, he himself wouldn't know the reason as to why did he suddenly called her Tomomi, even if he had spent the last month or so calling her family name, but somehow, it hurt Sho to know that she didn't want him to call her by her given name.
"Hurry. I don't have all day."
"When did you get back?"
"Yesterday."
'I only want to be with you
Walk along with happiness
Like a couples love, so simple
I only want to never be apart with you
Don't give up so easily
And say you forgot the happiness.'
Silence settled again, like a thick blanket across two people who wanted to speak, yet somehow couldn't find the words to do so. Sho looked at her, wanting to ask her how was she, did she look pale? Or was it just his eyes playing tricks on him? Somehow, he wanted to reach out, touch her, kiss her again, but he knew it was his own fault in the first place. Even now as he looked at her, Sho was confused, as if he wanted to make up his mind, yet at the same time, couldn't.
'Why does love make hearts shatter?
I can't believe you anymore
But why must I still think of you?'
Working silent, her backed turned towards him, her chest ached painfully. She hated being in such close proximity with him. Tomomi remembered clearly, his smile, his hearty laughter, and each gentle gesture he had towards her whenever they were with each other, even if only as friends. It was these tiny gestures that made the girl fall for him in the first place, but she couldn't, wouldn't let him show anymore. It already hurt enough now. It'll just hurt more. She couldn't fight with someone who wasn't in the mortal world any longer.
"We don't have much time, Sakurai-san."
Mutely, Sho stood up, walking towards her, and as silent as he was, Tomomi got to work. Her movements were brisk, and though her altering skills weren't as good as that of Kiyomi's, since Tomomi was more of a stage designer then a fashion one after all,, somehow, the girl kept a meticulous watch on her fingers, careful not to brush them against Sho's own bare skin. The few times she did, it was like they had been electrocuted, and Sho noticed, her little jerks whenever skin came in contact.
And he also noticed, how her skin seemed to be warm, hotter then normal body temperature.
"Tomo-"
"Sayakomi."
He growld in irritation, his last shreds of patience wearing away as he repeated again, with much force. "Sayakomi-san, are you sick?"
"No."
Obviously though, Sho wasn't about to take no for an answer. From where he stood, Tomomi was stooped down to his knees, making minor alterations to the bottom of his slacks, but Sho bent down, and with one hand, clasped her wrists together, and the other went up to press his palm against her forehead, his frown deepening when he felt the heat. "You have a fever." he stated matter of factly, this close to giving her a glare.
"I need to work."
"You need to rest, you idiot."
"Who are you to call me an idiot?!"
"When you decided to work when you so obviously need to rest."
"Saku-"
"I'm bringing you home."
"You don't even know where I stay."
"Well, you're just going to have to tell me." he smirked at her, a technique he had gotten easily over the years of associating with Nino and Jun, and somehow, it tickled Sho to see Tomomi's exasperated expression at his words.
"Since when did you turn so insufferable anyway?"
"Since you decided not to take care of yourself."
"What am I to you to need your care anyway?" she grumbled, this time in an undertone. Yet, Sho heard her words, and he couldn't help but wonder himself, why did he want to take care of her anyway? Perhaps it was something to do with how he had somehow fallen for her, or maybe it was just something about the way she just frivolously didn't care about her health, the way she'd rather let him have the umbrella and let herself get soaked in the rain, the way now, she'd rather work then go home and sleep her fever off.
"Lets go." he replied, not a response to her question, but rather an assertion to what he had stated he wanted to do, and took the bag on the table, and with his other hand, took her wrist, and started pulling her towards his car. To his surprise, the girl didn't put up a resistence, yet when he turned to ask for her address, to Sho's frustration, he found the girl suddenly turned mute.
"Tomomi!"
Silence. She turned away to look out the window, and Sho didn't know if he wanted to strangle her, or just scream in irritation. "For goodness sake, would you just tell me?"
Turning away, Tomomi looked everywhere and anywhere but at the frustrated expression of Sakurai Sho. But truth was, the reason the girl wasn't talking was because she herself wasn't too sure of what she wanted. Why did she even let Sho drag her to the car, Tomomi would never figure out. Now that she was in the car though, she wasn't too sure he even wanted him to bring her back.
Apparently though, Sho was taking matters in to his own hands.
"Moshi moshi? Kiyomi-chan?"
'What the heck! He called Kimi-chan?!' her eyes widened, and the girl immediately turned around to face him, only to find another smirk adorning his suddenly-extremely-appealing lips, as he spoke to the phone, acquiring the address, before he hung up, and then turned to flash the smirk at Tomomi, a triumphant one at that, before driving off without another word.
And to her horror, Tomomi found herself amused. Highly amused. And that wasn't exactly good for the state of her heart right now.
