A quick update
Yesterday was my last day at Shape magazine! Really sad to be leaving... it's been an incredible 4 months... and I met some wonderful people. I just hope the fact that my editor encouraged me to continue bodes well for my future writing prospects.
Actually... I'm in a bit of a dilemma. [Please excuse the messy thought stream now]During my last 2 months, the art director for a men's mag under the same management approached me to do a photoshoot/interview.
To be absolutely honest, I was flattered. And photoshoots are always such fun, even for unphotogenic me! BF said "don't want lah!" almost immediately however.
But every time I bumped into the art director, he'd ask me "how?" and on the one day that he dropped by with his editor, he said he'd do a "healthy/sporty" shoot for me... something in the vein of Shape... and i sort of agreed on condition that he email me the plan?
Anyhow... he didn't email me the plan till my very last day. Sent me a short note, "remember our date on Mon, 5pm!" So I told him I had something on (the truth). And he says, Wed can? I email him back to say I'm not sure and can he let me know what to expect first? But I think he was out of the office and didn't reply before I left the office myself for the last time.
So now I don't know if he's aware that I'm not keen on doing the shoot. If so, he'll be left in the lurch since the shoot is next week... and for the particular issue he has in mind, the deadline seems extremely tight. Then again, it's not entirely my fault he misunderstood that I'd given the green light for the shoot.
But some part of me is pretty ok with going ahead with the shoot. Sure there'll be backlash... but the fickle public will forget eventually... and I won't live wondering "what if"? If he doesn't call me on Monday, I'll just take it as fate and forget about it. (I accidentally mistyped one digit in my mobile number)But if he calls... what should I say??
