Mini Rant
You know for a department that's supposed to handle the nation's labour force, I find it pretty ironic how tight the Ministry of Manpower seems to be on manpower. They don't even have enough people to man their "hotline". I ended up leaving a message, and when it went 24 hours without a response I decided to head down personally yesterday to check on the status of my employment pass application. I informed them of the urgency, and they assured me they'd "expedite". Went back again today to inquire on the possibility of getting a temporary pass to allow me to at least start on my pupillage whilst they dilly dally with my application. To my dismay I discovered that despite submitting on 25th, they only "accepted" (whatever that means) the application on the 31st, meaning that the "14 day processing period" only took effect from that date. Meanwhile, they still haven't actually assigned my case to an officer for approval yet? So much for "expedite"! And they finally replied my 3-day old voicemail when I got home, how helpful. On the bright side, being unable to start work today meant I was free to spend much of the day with my dad. He got me this from Chiangmai, presently wafting green tea vapour through my bathroom. :)

Why I should refrain from operating the washing machine under the influence of alcohol
Two separate incidences caused by my attempts to do the laundry right after getting home from a night of clubbing (I just hate my clothes smelling like ash trays.) My nice new baseball cap now has a permanent dent after I put it through both the regular wash cycle and the tumble dryer... clearly hat suicide to my presently sober mind! And as I was changing my bedsheets & duvet covers today, I discovered a big unidentified lump in my clean duvet covers... which turned out to be my long-lost MissShop pixie skirt! I wore it for the first time to Zouk months ago and hadn't seen it since... so apparently I chucked it in the wash with my sheets that night & didn't notice when it ended up inside the duvet covers whilst storing the washed covers. Ooops!

Why I rarely cook for those whose health & general well-being I treasure
How do I cook a meal with pasta, a hunk of cheese & a box of Japanese seasoning? Easy! Dump pasta into boiling water until tender. Drain & place in oven-proof dish. Mix in seasoning & top with grated cheese. Bake till golden. In case you'd like to try this "unique" dish for yourselves... here's the seasoning I used...

Surprisingly, it didn't taste alltoo bad... if I don't say so my-was-famished-self! :P
