I had been my whole life a bell, and never knew it until at that moment I was lifted and struck. I have since only very rarely seen the tree with the lights in it. The vision comes and goes, mostly goes, but I live for it, for the moment when the mountains open and a new light roars in spate through the crack, and the mountains slam.
- Pilgrim at Tinker Creek, Annie Dillard

I have had this passage ringing in my mind ever since I got back from the backpacking trip I took in early August. Thought I might share.

Things are going...well. We do have a roommate. Her name is Haley, and she is one of the nicest people I've met. Plus, she's amazingly easy to live with. I'm getting used to my classes and dealing with the different teaching methods the professor's have. My French class is going to be a struggle for that reason, but besides that I'm enjoying them. I love my apartment, and I love my room. I haven't really been meeting a ton of people, but that will come when it comes. I'm really not worried. I am getting involved with this group called PSF, however. (Presbyterian Student Fellowship) So far they seem to be a really awesome group of people, and I think I'm going to enjoy learning with them.

I ride the shuttle to campus in the mornings, and I'm listening to my ipod, and I feel like I'm in a music video. Or a part of a movie where they play music over the actions. It's probably the best part of my mornings. (I don't even care how weird that sounds, it's true.)

I think I'm happy.
If I'm not, I'm pretty close.
