Shadow Circus at C.I.A. 8/9/08

Sep 03, 2008 22:17

Well, better late than never! Geez, looks like a month has lapsed before I got these posted, sorry. If you are not familiar with Shadow Circus from San Francisco, do yourself a favor and take a look at their website. Better yet, come see them on the rare occasion they come to L.A. for a show. It's like an adult puppet show but carries enough whimsey that it's not 'adult' in a way that's off-putting. And these are not sock puppets but life sized original creations by my LJ friend
Dave. I appologize for not knowing any of their names, my favorite character is Syrus the beatnick cockroach, who was not in attendance on this night. I love the way he bags on hipsters, who make up a large percentage of his audience! And this location is ideal for this show, which included a uke player/singer, and demonic guitar player/singer and two different lovely burlesque acts. I need to go back and take a picture in every room in this place. It was Dave's birthday on the weekend they were here and it was a good time!

ETA: May not be safe for work, let me know if this photo size is too big and I will change it.

Uni and her ukelele are adorable!

Dottie Lux gets her tassles spinning

I love this bar

Kimberlee made a birthday cake and cupcakes for the audience. There was also whipped cream but that was another occasion
