So, that's it for the year.
The Melbourne Swordplay Guild is closing its doors for 2008.
We'll be back next year for some Elizabethan swordplay...as we return to our roots to examine the works of George Silver.
I'm surprised the year has gone so fast.
I'm really impressed that people actually got the essence of rapier combat. ie, it isn't just a sissy weapon, but is actually a very aggressive fighting style which sticks to solid principles (provided you are armed with suitable weaponry - else its just a brawl)
I must admit, I've enjoyed teaching a swordplay style with martial intent. It is cathartic, and strangely it helps me get my head around certain concepts so much easier. Even if I'm not as good a fencer as I used to be due to lack of practice.
Still, its been a great year.
