26-Jun-2008Arrived in Canadia yesterday...
Saw the CN Tower & the CBC. CN Tower is cool, but too many tourists go there (apparently they don't in Autumn, but eh) It was very crowded. Awesome view was worth it though. Gotta say something good about here, Canadians know how to queue. Bloody tiring all that standing around and waiting though.
Have had a Toronto Street Dog.
Also, the Hockey Hall of Fame was heaps of fun. Pity we got there too late to do anything. Seems like walking around here takes much longer than it did in the UK.
27-Jun-2008Toronto! Ontarioo-oh... Doesn't Suck.
Woke up a little later than we had wanted, so we didn't go to the zoo (it is on the other side of town and a bit far for PT)
Instead we headed to the ROM (Royal Ontario Museum) & had a little look-see. The walk was a bit much, so we took a trip on a Toronto Streetcar.
Saw the Darwin (y'know, Chuck D) exhibit at the ROM as well as some of the European exhibits. Gotta say the dinosaurs at the ROM were cool. Not as grand as the ones at London's Natural History Museum, but still very cool. The Native People's Exhibit was very awesome! Other than that, all I can remember right now is a whole lot of walking.
Unfortunately, we'd been spoilt by museums in the UK (which are for the most part free) so there were aspects of the ROM which could've been better. Mind you, the Bat Cave, and the Live specimens (from the Darwin Exhibit) and all the other cool stuff made it all worth admission. The crowds still sucked though.
EVIL DEAD...The MUSICAL!
Had dinner at a Japanese place with Axel, Siobhan & one of their friends (yeah my memory for names suck dog's balls). The eel was good. B managed to forget her wallet in the restaurant, so we had to trundle back. From there we headed back to see Evil Dead: The Musical. Totally Fucking Awesome!
Our seats were in the "splatter zone" stage right. Which I gotta say is very cool, though I would've probably picked stage centre for the first viewing. It was loads of fun, a veritable fistful of boomsticking good times! (and they got a standing ovation)
Got mighty splattered during the second act, but that's fine as fake blood washes out fine. Had a grand old time which I simply can't describe properly.
While cleaning up after the show, a random dude asked me if it was worth it. All of us who got splattered answered "hell yeah!" in stereo. Totally recommend it to everyone!
Tomorrow we're going to Niagara, and then we'll go do the pride march thing the day after.
Right now, its shower time, gotta get the rest of this muck off me before flopping into bed.
28-Jun-2008Niagara Falls & Max
Went to Niagara Falls with Axel and Max (Siobhan was working). Totally strange experience (though I reckon if we had worn the clothes we were wearing last night, they'd have been clean right after going down to the viewing platforms at Niagara)
The town itself is all tacky and touristy yet it is right next to an awesomely spectacular bit of nature's might. Decided that we had to do something tacky, so we went to the Guinness World Record Museum (sp?), after which, we went on a "behind the Falls" tour. Seriously, the Falls are bewilderingly cool, all that water, and the spray!
Had ice cream at Niagara by the Lake, then headed back to Axel and Siobhan's after dropping Max at her place. Had a really good pizza (the place does gold leaf pizza) for dinner, then ended up chatting with Siobhan and B till 2am.
29-Jun-2008Pride
Woke up late, then headed to Pride march. Pizza breakky then a cable car/street car ride to the centre of town. Picked up some Captain Canuck postcards.
Met up with Max at Wellesley Station, had a really strange time navigating through the parade crowds. Seems that its the same the world over, crowds are obnoxious and ugly, and totally inconsiderate. Also stopped by a ROOTS store to pick up some stuff.
Didn't really see too much of the parade, but its a damn sight bigger than the one we've got back home. Spent the afternoon at a gay bar surrounded by twinks, had a bit of a panic attack (I guess I do prefer dykes).
Headed back to Axel & Siobhan's and spent the evening packing for our trip to Vancouver.
More later...Final leg of the tour coming soon.
