I can't even begin to say how much I appreciate this opportunity to procrastinate. I'm going to drag it across the whole evening. Well, early evening.
List seven songs you are into right now. No matter what the genre, whether they have words, or even if they're any good, but they must be songs you're really enjoying now. Post these instructions in your Live Journal along with your seven songs. Then tag seven other people to see what they're listening to.
"Cecilia" -- Simon and Garfunkel
I adore this song times a million. It's not that I like the whole breaking heart thing. Or the begging or the cheating or whatever. It's just the tune is so catchy. I listen to it over and over and over and over and over. For months, now. I love Simon and Garfunkel. It always makes me happy.
House of the Rising Sun -- ?
I don't know who sings it. I mean, I know a lot of people who sing it, like Bob Dylan. But I don't like his version that much. But I adore the song beyond measure. It's one of the family singing songs. Lin, who is it that sings the version that you handed over to me on your MiniDisc thing? Because that's the version I like. I just lay down and covered my eyes, put in earphones and listened to it loud this evening. Therapeutic. There is..a house..in New Orleans...
Jump (For My Love) -- the Pointer Sisters
I have been obsessed with this song for more than a year now. I adore it. So does Kendra, yay. We listened to it tonight. I adore my Love Actually sound track. Do we remember, folks? Hugh Grant dancing down the stairs? Yes. Great song. A real pick-me-up. I wonder if Ashley recalls how often I used to play this song... And those interesting nights when I would hyperactively dance all over the room? (Obviously never outside of the room. It must either be dark or I must be well on my way to drunk to dance in public.)
All You Need is Love -- Lynden David Hall
Another Love Actually. I love the song anyway, but I particularly love it in Love Actually form. I love the musicians popping up in the audience. I love the scene. It has such a fuzzy feeling. And hey, it's even got a good message. I mean, based on the current divorce rates I'm willing to assert that there's more that people need than love, since those rates are higher for people who are having financial difficulties, etc. But I like it anyway. Because I'd like it to be true, and in a way, it is. In most ways, it's just hard for me to imagine a life without the creature-comforts that I have. But way harder to imagine one without all my beloveds!
God Only Knows -- The Beach Boys
I think it's pretty clear what my favorite soundtrack is. Love Actually again. Although I totally like the Beach Boys by themselves. I even have a CD. And in my days of online music, I had fun. Ooh! That reminds me of another song I really like, and listen to a lot whenever I'm home and driving, which means... Oldies! I think it's Billy Joel. Meet Virginia. Great song. And I really like the words. After all those years in Catholic school and stuff. Anyway, this song. I love this song. It's just happy. Visualize, people, if you don't remember by looking at the name, the bit at the end with all the pictures. Fuzzy. I can't really recall more about the song because Cecilia is playing very loudly in my ears for the third time in a row and it's distracting. Loveably so, though.
For the Longest Time -- InToneNations
I say InToneNations because this is the version I have of it. My sisters a cappella group. Eh. They sing it well, I like it, I love the song, and it's super to sing with my sister. I really should start voice again, so I can improve mine to a point where it actually sounds trained good, but... Mary was unhelpful.
The Bolerno -- Moulin Rouge
This song just has to be mentioned because I do listen to it a lot and I have done so for years now. It's one of my favorites ever. It's the credits song for Moulin Rouge. Instrumental. Fun. Especially loud, in one's room.
Well, I'll tag people just because, even though I never ever tagged anybody before. Except I'm going to choose people I know are probably not going to answer. Because some of you are just settling in in China, and some of you spend all your time covering yourself in grease and dirt, and some of you are apparently constitutionally opposed to writing in your lj without excessive persuasion.
Er, yes. So I forgot to actually do the bit where I tagged. Linden, Cammi, Nania, Amy, Greg, Erica and Alyson.
This proposal is taking me all freaking night. I'm going to die. Btw, I was so right about Jason Momoa. About Momoa being a Polynesian name. He's from Hawaii! I fail to understand why Valentines Day puts so many people in the dumps. I suppose this is because I've never had cause to associate it with romance. I just like the pink and the hearts and the candy and when your friends give you cards! It's an especially good day this year because I don't have any homework due the day after. So that's my favorite weekday. Although I will be spending several hours in the archive and doing other work until the time that I can escape to Benton to watch SG:A. Or something.
If I hadn't decided to skip work tomorrow morning I'd be getting up in four hours. And I guesstimate I have about five hours of Stats to do. Ah, the joys of life. Still... Work is going to be hard to make up. And I feel bad; I've been reliable.
