This is a 320 word Spider-Man drabble, featuring Penny Parker, for the Weekend Challenge at 1_million_words  ENJOY!!

May Parker lived in Queens her entire life, so, she knew how crazy life in their borough could get.

It didn’t matter if you were walking through a neighborhood in Astoria, shopping at the Queens Place Mall or eating at a diner in Forrest Hills, you were guaranteed to overhear some massively bizarre snippets of conversation.

But now, she was back in her apartment which was supposed to be her stress free, safe space, so why was she overhearing her beloved teenaged niece and her two equally teenaged best friends having a worryingly adult sounding conversation?

And hadn’t she watched enough sitcoms and Lifetime movies to know that eavesdropping never ended well?

“Oh man, Penny, be careful!  Everyone knows you can only spread those legs so far before bad things start to happen.”

May could hear MJ laughing at Ned’s scandalized tone.  “That doesn’t make a bit of sense because everyone knows….”  May could hear Penny’s snort of laughter at the emphasis of MJ’s words,  “the human body can be very bendy.  Penny, as long as you stretch first, you should be fine.”

May didn’t even pause to knock, she simply burst through Penny’s bedroom door, her worry for her niece overcoming her respect for the girl’s privacy.

“I’m sorry for just barging in, but I need to see what’s…”

May’s words died in her throat because standing in front of her was Penny, her legs and arms covered in yards of bright red and blue plaid velvet which she appeared to be trying to stretch into a tent.

MJ and Ned were on either of side of her legs, pulling the material as taut as their strength allowed.  All three kids looked up, startled at May’s sudden entrance.

The older woman just shook her head and eased back out of the door, muttering softly to herself.  “You know what?  I’m good, I don’t need to know what’s going on.”
