Star Trek, the Olympics and everything that is awesome :):)
Okay, first I’m going to get the bad stuff out of the way: my Weekend Challenge at 1_million_words went belly up with only one person managing to create a lovely drabble. I guess my Weird Pennsylvania challenge was an epic fail. DAMN!!! ETA: I know have two people who completed ficlets--maybe not so much a fail after all?! :)
But now onto the good: First, I saw the new Star Trek movie and of course I’m enchanted with Karl Urban’s awesome Dr. McCoy and the mysterious necklace he wears at the end of the film-could it have been a gift from Spock? Also Jaylah was a wonderfully kickass addition and I officially want Simon Pegg to write every Trek sequel from now on :):)
And second? The Olympics are back-WOO HOO!!
My Bob Costas is as ageless and fascinating as ever-I would seriously love to see the aging portrait he keeps of himself in his attic.
I’m massively proud of our gymnastics team and I absolutely love that Aly Raisman’s is doing as well as she is. Once again she is virtually ignored over Gabby Douglas but guess who is going to the All Around competition?!
While I’m already tired of Michael Phelps, and his overwrought mother but he now has a seven week old baby and fiancé to add to the mix. YIKES!!!
I hope all of the athletes, their families and fans stay healthy and safe in Rio.
