This is for the fabulous
kaige68 who is suffering through horrible snow: Fic or rant (or with Danny both) on the overuse of sauce, or what sauce cannot be over used: So here is a 330 word McDanno drabble/Danno Rant :)
Danny could feel his blood pressure start to rise. “Steven, did you just pour A-1 on my steak?”
Steve was in the middle of pouring steak sauce onto Grace’s plate when he glanced over, his expression confused . “Yes?” he answered.
Danny slowly put his steak knife down so he wouldn’t be tempted to do anything violent. He then took several deep breaths and stood up from his dinner plate.
Steve watched warily, knowing a rant was about to begin.
“Steve, let me explain about sauces.”
Grace stared wide eyed across the kitchen table. “No Danno, not the sauces lecture.”
“I’m sorry you have to hear this again Monkey, but Uncle Steve needs to know the truth,” Danny responded gravely.
Steve attempted to interrupt, “Danny, man, it’s no big deal…”
But Danny wasn’t about to be deterred. “No Steve, this needs to be said. Sauces are tricky to add to any dish and must be used in accordance with the diner’s wishes.”
And with those ominous words, Danny began to pace.
“I mean, you shouldn’t be adding sauce to anyone else’s plate. How could you possibly know how much blackberry barbeque sauce I wanted to add to my chicken? Or the exact amount of horseradish sauce needed to make the perfect roast beef sandwich?”
Steve tried to interrupt but Danny steamed right over him. “And how could you even comprehend the amount of peppercorn sauce required to make my Grandma Theresa’s stew?”
By this time Danny had paced around the entire kitchen table. “Seriously Steve, this isn’t a simple marinara sauce which can go with any pasta. This is freakin’ A-1 steak sauce, bold and spicy, and you have to make sure it doesn’t get in with the mashed potatoes.”
Danny was now sitting back down in his place. “Understand?”
Steve looked up from his plate, his steak halfway eaten. “Sure, Danno, I understand. ‘No sauces without permission.’ Got it.”
Danno nodded happily back. “Good man. Now we can eat.”
