Robin Williams, RIP

It is very tragic that a man who brought so much joy and laughter in other people’s lives had such a difficult time finding his own happiness.  I have no doubt that his family are in deep shock and my thoughts and prayers go out to them.  I’m also going to pray for Robin’s soul as well-may he rest in peace.  Now I think we need to remember just how brilliant he was, so I ask you:   what are your favorite Robin Williams’ characters?
Mr. Keating in Dead Poet’s Society-he played a very funny and thoughtful teacher trying to help his students to see the depth of their potential.  Who could ever forget Ethan Hawke’s Todd finally finding his personal courage and standing on his desk with a “O Captain, my Captain?”  Still brings tears to my eyes.

The genie in Aladdin:  the song “You Never Had a Friend Like Me” is pretty much the best part of that Disney cartoon.

Peter Pan in Hook:  his facing off against Captain Hook was awesome and his scenes with his kids were cute, but his best moments were with the Lost Boys.

And while I loved Mork and Mindy, my favorite characters were actually Exidor and Mearth (Mork and Mindy’s baby, as played by the brilliant Jonathan Winters

Honorable mention:  his role in  Good Will Hunting.  I liked his Southie accent :)
