Elementary: S2.24

I'm not too sure what I think about this finale:

I hate that Mycroft gets to swan off of the show like he’s some noble hero:  he protected Sherlock, served his country, was the epic love of Joan’s life, blah, blah, blah.  Mycroft was wasted on this stupid subplot with Joan--they were together for a week and she’s bursting into tears at his leaving? Utterly ridiculous.  Their complete lack of chemistry was only highlighted by how wonderfully Joan and Sherlock work together.  Looking at them on screen, I believe that they are partners who genuinely care for each other.  However, also based on what I see on screen I do not think for one minute that Joan and Mycroft have any sort of deep and meaningful connection-everything they share and have together is based on knowing Sherlock. This is not the beginnings of a healthy romance.

I also believe that Mycroft and Sherlock care for each other but the can’t express it, so Mycroft’s hug was lovely but also sad.  I have no doubt that Sherlock could have helped Mycroft assume a new identity where he could still maintain contact with his brother but I guess the show wants Mycroft gone.

Does Sherlock’s joining MI-6 mean that he’s going to be globetrotting or will he be staying in New York?  Will he let Joan know that he’s severing their partnership or does he think Joan is okay working on her own or is he really even thinking about Joan?

I know in S3, I want to see more of Joan and Sherlock’s solving crimes and being close friends and relying on each other and I feel Mycroft’s presence really put a damper on that bond.

i believe in all sherlock holmes, elementary
