February continues to kick our collective butts. We will be getting our eleventh winter storm this Thursday and can I tell you that I’m sick to death of shoveling snow! And the weather people are talking about freezing rain and that means there might be power outages again--I hope to God that doesn’t happen. Now onto the important stuff: TV shows and the Olympics :):)
My poor Bob Costas had to be replaced because his eye infection has spread to both eyes. The man needs TLC and I’ll be happy to go to Sochi and take care of him :)
I’m kind of liking this newer humble version of Evgeni Plushenko. He seems more human and I appreciate his being kind to our Jason Brown and complimenting his skating. Nice.
Scott Moir, on the other hand, continues to be a massive tool and a bad sport and Tessa Virtue is coming dangerously close as well. Did you see their shocked facial expressions when their free dance scores were announced during the team event? They honestly thought they were going to outscore Davis and White with that over the top stilted program simply because they were gold medalists in 2010? How entitled can you get? Newsflash, Davis and White have been beating you for the best two years and they will continue to in Sochi. And I loved Tracey Wilsons’ comments: “The Russian audience is being very reserved with their applause.” Not really because the audience seemed to cheer enthusiastically for Davis and White’s fabulous free skate-maybe they just didn’t care for Virtue and Moir’s overwrought program.
I enjoyed the crap out of BBC Sherlock’s series 3 and I loved “His Last Vow.” I liked the reveal about Mary’s past as an assassin and I loved John and Sherlock’s reaction to it. Of course John, being the adrenaline junkie he is, would fall for a woman with an intriguing and dangerous past, but I have to ask, which one of them is the better shot? And I firmly believe that it will be Sebastian Moran who is behind the reappearance of Moriarty.
I still love Elementary but I don’t know what to think about Joan’s reveal that she was adopted into the Watson family and her bio-dad’s a schizophrenic living on the streets. What a strange and completely random character development.
Lastly, Rest in Peace Shirley Temple. As a child, I loved watching her movies-The Little Princess is one of my personal favorites-and her singing and dancing were beyond charming and her characters were always so filled with hope. There hasn’t been a child star like her since.
