Astoria was out of electricity for almost a week b/c of the heat a week ago. Now, the heat wave is coming back next week and once again, we're being threatened. I really hope that Con Edison (electric co.) and Bloomberg is smart enought to recheck the wires before that happens again. I guess for me, it's okay to not have electricity, it could be a lot worse (like having no water). But for the grocery stores and the people that depend on their small businesses to live, it really is not fair for the city to not work harder in repairing the lines faster. Like crystal said, if it were Manhattan, the max would've been 2 days. On another note, I purchased a futon yesterday and a bed for Annie! My apartmenting is nearly complete with the addition of a couch. Of course, nothing can compare to my Sober-Up Couch back in Austin, but it'll suffice for now. Plus, when my friends come over, they'll have a bed to sleep on! All I need now is some beautiful art to color my walls.
Now, as for my job, it is really not stimulating my creative juices at all and I guess I was over zealous at the fact that my job would satisfy me in that way...especially my first job...HA! So, I went to buy fabric after work on friday and picked up this beautiful plaid. I'm going to make a tight fitting fall/winter dress w/ sleeves...very classic. I realized that my taste has changed a lot since I've moved here. I appreciated much cleaner lines and carefully constructed/tailored garments with beautiful details and sophistication. The only bad thing is I only have eyes for very expensive clothing. So I'll guess I'll slowly save for them now or make my own!
One day, I will have my own line!!! That's my goal. I'll give myself 10 years to get there. hehe.
Talking to Crystal the other day, I realized that It'll be a year since I've seen her in November. It better not get to that point!!!! I miss you juicy. My couch is waiting for you.
