After psych 140 on mondays and wednesdays I've got a few free hours before my next class. Richard, Suman, & I have been spending our time on the benches in front of Dwinelle (non-space) and enjoy the sun, people watch. Last week we made a sign that says FREE CONVERSATION, and we've just been laying in the sun and pushing the sign in the air. It's funny to observe how much people want to avoid you, even if its something as harmless as a free conversation. We ask the people, " anything on your mind?", but most just keep walking (they are busy, we suppose). Still, now and then a few open souls will want to talk about unicorns or politics. Richard never goes to his 12 o clock class, just so he can try and communicate with the passersby.
We invented a game, it's called "tree-feeling". What you do is, you look at a tree and you try and express how it feels. Hand gestures, sound effects, and sometimes dancing are means by which this can be done. So when we're walking to class, someone may call out a tree (which by the way, we've renamed as Earth Fingers), and we'll do our best to tree-feel.
You should see the courtyard on a beautiful day, it's infectious. Everyone's in swim suits and sundresses, reading in the garden. I bring my reading outside, but sprawl out like a cat in the sun and just nap and smile.
