I've actually just been spending a lot of time worried about sounds in general. This actually ties into another song and its lyrics that have been on my mind a lot:

The first lyrics are from "Romance" by Wild Flag. The next two snippets are both from "One Beat" by Sleater-Kinney.
I've been thinking about my relationship with Sleater-Kinney over the past decade. I remember first hearing them in 2000, and listening on and off (mostly to Dig Me Out and All Hands on the Bad One) until 2005, when by some strange series of events (that I don't even remember!) I found out that Sleater-Kinney had a new album out (The Woods) and that they would be playing in Santa Cruz on the 6th of June, a Monday, the day after my 19th birthday. I went. I've talked about it a lot lately, actually.
From there, summer 2005 could definitely be described as a summer of Sleater-Kinney, dominated by The Woods. During that summer, I finally bought and listened to their debut album (Sleater-Kinney), Call the Doctor, and One Beat. I still, to this day, am not as familiar with The Hot Rock.
Flash forward to 2011. Sleater-Kinney disbanded in 2006 and I was heart-broken. I didn't think of them much, however, as that was the beginning of the Neil Young era. I don't really remember listening much to Sleater-Kinney from 2006-2010 or so.
What changed? I'm not sure. I think because of Wild Flag and Portlandia. Because though Carrie Brownstein wrote for NPR, I never really paid a...
