the weight of linguistics

I'm still feeling rather chipper today. I've introduced myself to the notion of Indo-European languages, as in, studying them in general. I find this to be rather exciting. I'm currently reading an article by Philip Baldi found in The World's Major Languages (1987; edited by Bernard Comrie) before I read his book An Introduction to Indo-European Languages (1983). Thus, the book is a bit dated, but still a good primer on some of the essentials of Indo-European linguistics.

Aside from that, today has been somewhat ho-hum. I went to the psychiatrist this morning. Things went surprisingly well. The best part of this endeavour was finding out that I now weigh 232, down from a high of 340. Last month, on December 17th, I weighed 251. 19 pounds in 25 days? I can dig it --but is it healthy? Well, it must be, cause the gastric bypass people were fine with 89 pounds in 91 days. I dunno, we'll see.

Today has also been spent running errands. I went with father to pay some bills and for a trip to Escalon. My line of thinking was that running errands is better than taking a nap or doing whatever else it is I would have been doing.

Anyways, I wrote way more than I intended to and blathered on needlessly about semi-important things. Today, hopefully, will be part of a larger symbol of the changes to come. I look forward to them, and embrace them, with open arms.
