Um, totally horrible day yesterday:
I walked out of a friend's apartment in Manhattan only to realize my car was gone.
Established it had, in fact, been towed, with the help of a wonderful firefighter and his adorable dalmation. Took a cab to the Navy Yard in Brooklyn, a dark place to which I hope to never return. Waited for well over three hours as I attempted to contact my parents to have my proof of insurance faxed to Redemeption. Finally pulled a crazy move -- Anneke called a friend who got on the internet, set up my Allstate account, printed out my proof of insurance, got into the aprtment upstairs for whom Anneke was housesitting, and faxed it to us using their fax machine. We were very creative about the whole thing.
However, it was basically the worst day possible. I was unable to do the interview I came to the city to do in the first place, so I baically drove to the city for no reason, wasted $10 worth of gas, spent $9 on tolls, and then paid $185 dollars to get my car back. And wasted the entire day.
I arrived back home at 8 at night, where boy was waiting for me, dinner made. He saved the day, along with Anneke and her cell phone, who stayed with me through the entire greuling experience.
