It feels like Christmas...because it is.

It is Christmas eve here in the merry old land of Oz and I have just finished wrapping Karl's Christmas presents. Seeing as Karl's family is Hungarian the real Christmas happens tonight, on Christmas eve. Karl's mother has prepared various nibblies such as terrine, chicken and spinach sausage rolls and little tomato and goat's cheese tarts. Tonight we will unwrap presents, eat, drink and be merry. We are only missing one family member this year and she will be sorely missed.

Tomorrow we are having a huge supper with Karl's grandmother and uncle as well as Karl's brother's girlfriend who will be making her first appearance at our Christmas. There will be the obligatory ham, and turkey as well as traditional poppy seed cake and some brownies I whipped up today. Grandma will trash talk me in Hungarian while she glares at me, Mary's boyfriend will hide in the bedroom and Karl and I will try not to be awkward.

I love Christmas. I really do. It is the best day of the year. I am so glad Karl's family allows me to share this day with them. If it wasn't for them I would be alone on Christmas...I also wouldn't have half as many funny stories to tell.
