Even with the chief conspirator rather definitely dealt with, there is rather a lot that has to be addressed in the wake of an attempted royal coup. The others involved must be located and taken care off, a nervous populace must be reassured

Meg got a glass of cider and then retreated to the edge of the room, and settled in the window seat.

This whole thing is kind of overwhelming, and she's still trying to get her brain to accept that, yes, it all really happened.

"So, Ms. Ford," Parker says, smiling, coming over to lean against the window sill.

"You've hopped worlds, rooted out a conspiracy, and helped save a kingdom from hostile takeover."

"What are you going to do now?"

How far are they from Disney World?

Meg looks up at Parker and holds out lock of still-damp-after-her-bath hair.

"Go back to a place with hair dryers."

And then she gets up to hug her friend.

"Are you all right?"

Parker grins, and gives Meg a tight hug back.

"I'm fine."

Tired. A little sore. Tired. Relieved. And tired.

But fine.

"How about you?"

"Pretty sure this has been the strangest thing I've ever done. But I'm okay."

Parker lets Meg go, and smiles at her.

"I'm really, really glad you came," she says.

Parker knows that, for Meg, jumping into another world is NOT something that is done lightly.

And she's grateful.

"You would have done the same thing for me," Meg says.

"I'm really, really glad you didn't get eaten by a dragon."

[parkerlee]

"Oh God, me too."

Parker isn't remotely afraid of Norman now. But there at the beginning? Scary hadn't even begun to cover it.

"Amy came and got you guys, right? I've heard the gist of that, but I'm still kind of sketchy on the details."

Meg nods.

"Yes. Um, because they suspected that someone at the palace was involved, and they didn't know who they could trust. So she went to Milliways to get help."

There's a slight pause.

"Your friend Amy is scary."

[parkerlee]

Parker raises her eyebrows.

"Scary?"

Not the first word that springs to mind with her when she thinks of Amy.

"Yeah."

[parkerlee]

Parker looks like she might need some convincing on this point.

"Well, I mean, she can be very....queenly when she wants."

"But scary?"

"Parker? I watched her slap a guy across the face hard enough to draw blood and then order him taken to the dungeons.

"All the while using the royal 'we.'

"And, granted, he absolutely had it coming, but . . .

"She's scary."

[parkerlee]

"Seriously?"

Parker's eyes have gone wide.

"Who was it? I mean, I guess someone who was in on the whole conspiracy. But who?"

"Lord Julius? He was the one who locked Logan and me in the secret room.

"The Queen, like a certain other celebrated queen, was not amused."

[parkerlee]

"The Protocol Officer?" Oh, Parker half wishes she could have been on hand to see that. "He always drove her up the wall."

"Wow."

"And, wait. You and Logan got locked in a secret room?"

There hasn't been time to do much catching up, yet.
