T. Fred Wolfe
Longtime area pastor and Bethel Park resident
The Rev. T. Fred Wolfe, 94, longtime area pastor and resident of Bethel Park, died Saturday, December 8, 2007.
He was the beloved husband of 65 years of Fern O. Pierce Wolfe; father of David (Thea) Wolfe, Deane (Sharon) Wolfe and Diann (Robert) Sessum; grandfather of Mark, Matthew, Cathleen, David and Daniel Wolfe and Ryan, Jared and Justin and the late Bret Sessum.
Also surviving are eight great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
The Rev. Wolfe was born in Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada, and graduated from Northwestern Bible School and Theological Seminary in Minneapolis.
During four decades in the ministry, he pastored Library Baptist Church, Cobden Street Baptist Church in Pittsburgh, Broad Street Baptist Church in Washington, Calvary Baptist Church in Washington and Grace Baptist Church in Pleasant Hills.
During the 1950s, he was a director of Conservative Baptist Theological Seminary in Denver; in the 1960s, he was state missionary for the Conservative Baptist Association of Pennsylvania; and in the 1970s, he became director of International Students Inc. on campuses of University of Pittsburgh and Carnegie Melon University.
Friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday and Thursday in Beinhauer Funeral Home, 2828 Washington Road, Peters Township (724-941-3211). Services will be held at 1 p.m. Friday, December 14, in Waterdam Church, Canonsburg. Interment will follow in Jefferson Memorial Park, Pleasant Hills.
