Beckett swore softly as she held down the backspace button. This wasn't difficult, at least it shouldn't be. How many reports had she written up for a case? Countless. It was part of her job description- albeit the most boring part. She glanced around the mostly empty room. She had sent Esposito and Ryan home hours ago, and Castle... well she didn't want to think about Castle.
His unswerving confidence in a man he had known as a boy had grated on her nerves. How could he place so much faith in this man who had means, motive and opportunity and absolutely none in her? She was jealous and she hated herself for it. All the praise of 'she's the best detective in New York' had gone out the window when she turned her focus on his friend, when every gut instinct she had was pointing at this guy's guilt in not only his wife's murder but now his father's.
There was just something about this guy that screamed 'guilty' to her and she couldn't shake it, despite her own respect for Castle's intuition and investigative skills. She entered a few more lines in the body of report form, staring that them for only a few moments before deleting them again. Standing up she went over to the white board again, staring at the evidence posted, going over it again. She wouldn't take pleasure in proving Castle's friend guilty, but she would prove him guilty.
Sadly, she didn't think the report would be any easier to write then. Castle's angry irritation, although a distraction, could not hold a candle to the sad puppy dog eyes that she knew she'd have to deal with after she proved herself right.
